Le Gite at Le Sorbier is a detached converted barn, constructed in the local stone. It has been sympathetically renovated to a high standard. Le Sorbier is a small hamlet located just 3km from the pretty town of Montignac in the Vezere Valley of the Dordogne. We have hot summers and cold winters but the weather is nearly always warmer than the UK! The swimming pool is shared with the owners The kitchen is very well equipped and includes an integrated dishwasher and fridge freezer with water dispenser. There is a washing machine in the utility cupboard Both bedrooms have modern ensuite shower rooms with dual head power showers. Bedroom 1 has a 180cm/6ft bed which splits into 2 single beds and bedroom 2 has a 152/5ft bed All bed linen and towels are provided with the exception of pool towels.
My husband, Simon and I have spent the last 3 years renovating our house in France. This is the third summer that are offering our house to guests to enjoy a relaxing holiday in rural France.
Although Le Sorbier is very rural and surrounded by fields it is only 3km from the pretty town of Montignac-Lascaux where you can find bars, restaurants, shops, a bank and post office and supermarkets, in fact everything you need. Montignac-Lascaux is the main centre for visiting the prehistoric sites in the Vézère valley which is now a Unesco World Heritage Site. The old town has a maze of streets with fourteenth- to sixteenth-century timbered houses. A market is held here twice weekly and there are restaurants where visitors can sit beside the river under medieval timbered beams. The busier Dordogne Valley and all it's tourist attractions is less than an hour drive from Le Sorbier Montignac-Lascaux has a historic bridge, from which fireworks are launched on holidays such as Bastille Day and during the summer festival of world folklore and dance, which is held annually in July
