Beyond The Full Monty
Partially within the Peak District, Sheffield is best known for being the setting of ‘The Full Monty’, a film whose title means the whole works. Indeed, vibrant Sheffield has the whole works - excellent shopping, great nightlife and an impressive sporting heritage.
It first came to fame during the Industrial Revolution for its pioneering role in the UK steel industry. One technique invented here is commemorated in the name of its most famous theatre – The Crucible, home of the Snooker World Championships.
Close by are the peaceful Winter Gardens with their multi-arched roof. The Peace Gardens are overlooked by the elegant town hall, and the focal building of the impressive Botanical Gardens somewhat resembles Crystal Palace, also by the same architect.
The city’s 2 football teams – Sheffield United and Wednesday – play at Bramall Lane and Hillsborough Stadium respectively. The cutting-edge English Institute of Sport is also based here, and the nearby Sheffield Arena is a prime UK venue for music and entertainment. The best shopping is found in the Meadowhall Centre near Rotherham.
Booking.com’s Sheffield accommodation includes city centre hotels with parking, others by Victoria Train Station, and guest houses near Doncaster Sheffield Robin Hood Airport.

The absolute chaos in the middle of town.
The absolute chaos in the middle of town. Why they couldn’t do one bit and finish it before going on to another part, I don’t know. There was only work being done on limited zones so planning could have caused far less inconvenience.
Also, it was very annoying that we couldn’t hail a taxi and had to walk through the cold and wet to get one and be inconvenienced by walking around all the scaffolding etc!
We loved the restaurants, however. Pizza Express was very helpful with our three small nieces and nephew. Piccolino made us very welcome and had delicious food. We also ate at Ask Italian, altogether positive.
The potholes and lumpy roads made driving around very scary.

We were visiting the Peak District for the second time and stayed at the Hilton as it worked out cheaper for the amount of time we were staying and is only a short drive away from all the countryside destinations we visited - around 20-25 minute drive

A beautiful city which despite its past economic difficulties, is recovering & thriving. The old buildings are gorgeous & the regeneration activities seem to be sympathetic to that. The people are lovely, so welcoming & cheerful. I will definitely go back for a longer visit.

Been to Sheffield many times.
Been to Sheffield many times. Plenty of different things to do. Have done things like shopping, ice hockey, concerts and theatre, Alpaca trekking, pubs and clubs, golf, football, museums, casinos, good attraction.
Very accessible- many things in central Sheffield but for those a bit further out- you can use tram or taxis.
Information and customer support was great. Staff friendly and helpful on arrival. Really convenient location not far from shops, restaurants, pubs, parks, and city centre, with good transport links nearby and hotel car parking too. Room was decent with nice shower/tub ensuite, good wardrobe, and TV. Tea/coffee making units in the room + biscuits. Curtains worked well for a blackout treatment :)
Location was great - really close to the city centre. parking available £5 which was CHEAP, and the staff were really friendly and helpful.
Excellent hotel
Lovely welcome.
We booked a basic room but was given a free upgrade. Lovely big room, fab shower and a comfy bed.
Kettle in room with tea, coffee, milk etc.
We had delicious Traditional English breakfast.
Would definitely stay again
We chose this based on location, and the location is great, especially if you like to walk. Sheffield City Centre is definitely walkable from here, and there are some great restaurants just around the block. Staff was very friendly and were absolute saints! The room is not that big but still spacious enough for myself. The neighborhood is very nice, safe and walkable, we'd love to go back!
Location is great, very close to bus/tram into Sheffield city centre. Morrisons opposite. Free parking available on site.
Very friendly and helpful staff!
Bed was very comfortable and there were extra pillows and blankets available in the room.
Internet was good, I worked from the hotel room one of the days - no issue.
Massive window and door but blackout curtains keep the room dark.
Lovely spacious room, clean, warm & comfortable. The bed was comfortable, shower just right & there was plenty of room to get ready in unlike some places I've stayed at. Tea & coffee provided as well as a biscuit. Staff were friendly & helpful & the hotel is in a prefect city centre location.
Really friendly staff who are eager to help. Good size rooms with comfy beds. Great selection for breakfast. Pool is a good size and location of hotel is in walking distance to city centre, with loads of restaurants to choose from. Also Sheffield is so close to the beautiful Peak District.
Friendly staff and they are very helpful too, the Hotel is close to Sheffield Arena, Meadowhall Shopping Centre and the City Centre too, the rooms are very comfortable with en suite shower and toilet. Drinks machine can be found in reception
The room was very spacious and modern. The hotel is a beautiful building with a lot of character. We had food from the bar and it was very fresh and a huge portion. All in all we couldn't fault it and would definitely stay again.
Good location for Sheffield City Center and other areas with bars and restaurants worth visiting. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to eat at the hotel, but I used the gym which was good, well equipped and spacious.
great location close to station and city centre. TV and WiFi are both included in room fare, you don’t get it in other easy hotels! The fare is cheap, I get what I get. A very good cafe just nearby, bonus point!
Close to city centre, cheapest hotel I could find compared to Premier Inn, holiday Inn etc , staff was polite and got to check in early, rooms were big and clean , had a pleasant stay , thanks
