FAQs about hotels in Cardiff

The Pride of Wales

Capital of Wales, Cardiff is a wonderfully green city steeped in national pride. At its heart is enormous Bute Park, divided by the River Taff and named after the marquis that once lived in Cardiff Castle overlooking it. In fact, this is just one of 5 castles within the surrounding area.

Over the road is Cathays Park, a beautiful square flanked by Edwardian architectural masterpieces including Cardiff City Hall and the excellent National Museum of Wales. Another must-see is St Fagan’s National History Museum, one of Britain’s top attractions.

From Victorian arcades to the fabulous St David’s Centre, shopping in Cardiff is a delight. And there’s no shortage of pubs and restaurants in which to rest awhile. Those by Cardiff Bay offer particularly pleasant views.

Also by the bay are the futuristic National Assembly for Wales and the Wales Millennium Centre. Another year 2000 landmark is the Millennium Stadium, a state-of-the-art venue for international rugby and football matches, as well as concerts. Next door is Cardiff Arms Park, home to the city’s rugby union team, while Cardiff City FC’s new stadium is in the west.

Cardiff Airport is further west near Barry and Booking.com have an excellent range of hotels, B&Bs and apartments both near there and in the city centre.

Cardiff was a beautiful city full of life and various types of adventures. From castle tours to rugby matches I found much entertainment! The restaurants had some very delicious foods and drinks as well. I stayed a full 7 day week, I do think it could have been done in 5 but overall I would go again.

Two night stay to go to theatre, Plenty of pubs, and eateries of all nationalities. Passed away a couple of hours ten pin bowling. In summer take a nice cruise down to the bay, where some may recognise Torchwood/ Dr, Who locations. Museum, three sports stadiums and a concert/sports arena all within walking distance of city centre. You can also take a wander around the castle grounds.

Great mix of new shopping precincts and old arcades. Great mix of shops and attractions. Very impressed with Cardiff. Only down side is 20 mph speed limit and the length of time waiting for green man to cross road.

    Cardiff is a wonderful city.

Cardiff is a wonderful city. It’s compact and walkable with beautiful parks, wonderful unique restaurants, tucked away Victorian arcades to explore and a quality mix of retail stores. It’s a really friendly place. Public transport (buses) is easily accessible with a range of tickets available (download the Cardiff Bus app - you can buy day tickets that save large amounts of money if you need to hop on and off buses for a wide travel area, or batches of tickets depending what suits your need). I’ve visited Cardiff several times (checking out universities) and visiting my family member at university. I’m looking forwards to finding even more of its treasures - it feels like there’s a new treasure around every corner! Bars like Nighthawks and gorgeous restaurants like Porro as well as top notch tapas at Curado are all excellent quality. Fantastic friendly service and brilliant selections of foods and wines.
