After braving the steep hill to get to the property (google maps directed me the hard way - there is a flatter one), I was greeted by Lynda and lovely Walter - her Samoyed dog. The location is a dream and the cottage is very clean, new and tastefully decorated. Lynda provided me with some biscuits, crumpets, butter and milk (which was lucky because mine had gone bad in the warm car!) upon arrival, and there was even some ice in the freezer shelf of the fridge for some cool drinks. The bed was so comfy, I asked her where she got it from, so I can replace mine at home. I got to play with Walter as well (I love dogs!) and spent some happy hours. Will definitely come back!

Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway. Lower Holly Barn is a luxurious self-contained cottage situated amongst rolling fields, woodlands and beautiful views. This is the place to come and unwind from hectic everyday life. Guests can enjoy beautiful walks from the doorstep, make use of the gym, bowling green and Summer house. The location is perfect for visiting many of the stately homes, Peak national Park and quaint villages in the area.
As a host I really enjoy making the cottage the best it can be and knowing that my guests are having a amazing holiday.
Hearthstone is a quiet hamlet at the end of a leafy lane with several public footpaths in different directions. Rolling fields, amazing scenery and even a castle are on your doorstep. There are 2 local train stations - Cromford and Matlock which are approx 2.5 miles away. This train will take you through to Nottingham via Derby. Matlock is central to the old market towns of Ashbourne, Wirksworth and Bakewell, Chatsworth House, Hardwick Hall and Bolsover Castle. Because of the quiet, countryside location you will need a car.
