Cottage on the Hill is q stylish 1950’s bungalow, situated high up in the Yorkshire Dales. It looks over our family farm run on the principles of Regenerative farming. With expansive views from every window out over the farm and the village of Crosby Ravensworth in the valley below. Then further to the Howgill and Crosby Fells and the distant Pennines. Cottage on the Hill has a large open garden, a sun terrace with a picnic table and your own Fire Pit The cottage also has its own private Wood fired Hot Tub and firepit. The garden has wide borders of spring flowers, roses and grasses. A Colonial style bungalow that is sunny and comfortable. With local & antiqufurniture, deep sofas, quiet corners for reading,family size dining kitchen, and cosy bedrooms with antique furniture. Each room is airy and filled with our clear northern light. The kitchen has a Rayburn range cooker and french doors that open onto the sunny south terrace. The bungalow sleeps up to four. A large double room and a twin bedded room with bathroom that has a separate shower. Plus second toilet and cloakroom The Cottage is a glorious place to spend a tranquil holiday either with family and friends or for just a couple to really relax and enjoy the great walking trails right from the door

For many years Mike and myself have enjoyed welcoming visitors to the farm. Our family, Laura, William and India have grown up with the ever changing mix of cultures, accents and adventure that visitors bring with them. So the years go by, children grow up and we now have grandchildren. We live right at the centre of the farm, is a converted Westmorland field barn, traditional in its setting. Modern and full of light, design being my interest and passion. Crake Trees Manor is our home, our farm, our business, our whole life really. Crake Trees Manor, is perfect for people who love to explore the outdoors, whether walking, biking or horse riding. Set in the Westmorland Dales, it is where north Yorkshire meets Cumbria, a place of beautiful river valleys, with access to more challenging hills and peaks. We have loads of maps and suggestions for circular walks or treks into the fells and towards the lakes. Our favourite is to Haweswater, and then follow the ancient coffin roads over the tops to Ullswater. We have two new information boards for walking around the footpaths of the local villages of Maulds Meaburn and Crosby Ravensworth. Out and about the country roads of The Westmorland Dales, and indeed…..on most country roads in Cumbria, you will meet cyclists. Touring families, lycra clad speed merchants, evening only cyclist groups and enthusiastic ladies like myself! This area is a Mecca for cyclists. The challenges are varied, with stiff hills, long winding descents, gentle undiscovered back roads. Plus pubs and cafes for en route refreshment ….. so important. Your bike is easy to store at the cottage or hire from Penrith or Lowther.
