FAQs about hotels in Glasgow

Fun-Loving and Forward Thinking

Scotland’s largest city, Glasgow combines Victorian architecture and a vibrant arts scene. A former European City of Culture, it is home to many national organisations including the Scottish Ballet and the National Theatre of Scotland. The museums are also world class. Not to be missed are the futuristic-looking Glasgow Science Centre and the eclectic exhibits at the Kelvingrove.

Lined with Georgian buildings, George Square is the city’s focal point and the spot for Glasgow Hogmanay celebrations. Fanning out from here are streets housing venues for the city’s main love: music. From classical concerts to up-and-coming bands, every taste is catered for.

As host of the 2014 Commonwealth Games, Glasgow is also a city of sport. Scotland’s 2 most iconic football clubs - Celtic and Rangers - are based here, as is the national football stadium Hampden Park. The Scottish Football Museum is also an excellent walk through the beautiful game.

Last but not least is the shopping in Glasgow. Shopping centres cover everything from high street brands to international designers. So when you fly into Glasgow Airport, make sure you’ve left enough space in your bags!

A lot to see and do but take advice and plan your trips. Weather can be unpredicable and change quickly so be prepared for rain A good trip is to Pollock Park with a visit to the Burrell Collection. Objects well displayed and not too much to exhaust you. Everyone loves the Highland cattle and calves in the surrounding fields. George Square is good for people watching, particularly on a Friday or Saturday night.

The hotel and the walk from the hotel to the hospital where I had to go for laser treatment on my face was dirty and unpleasant. The river looked lovely but apart from that what I saw of the city was run down and in need of a lot of renovation and work. I loved it last time I went I was shocked and saddened this time at how much it had descended into disrepair

We loved our visit to Glasgow.

We loved our visit to Glasgow. The Glaswegians were so friendly and helpful! We wanted to see a lot of Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s work and other artwork. The Kelvingrove museum and Hunterian art gallery and Mackintosh House were excellent. We took the hop on hop off bus tour to the southern and western part of Glasgow and found this very interesting to find out more of the history. We hopped off at Pollack park to see the Burrell collection which was also very interesting.

The location is great for both events in the Ovo or SECC, for walking into the west end, and for train links to the city centre. Car parking with a great discount at the SECC car park next door - was only £8 for 24 hours which is excellent for Glasgow. Good selection of food and drink at the bar, quality breakfast, and fantastic lounge/bar area to hang out in. Room was spotless and comfortable, staff were friendly and helpful. Later check out time than most hotels too.
