We'd love to welcome you to our stylish, cosy, Georgian cottage. Most of Chester's sights are just a few minute's walk away, as is the railway station, yet the location is very quiet. Our aim is to provide a real 'home from home' with a cosy sofa to flop into after a day's sightseeing & comfortable beds to assure you of a sound sleep!
Hi, I'm Maxine, your host. I love welcoming people into our Chester home and do my best to ensure you enjoy your stay. Always happy to give recommendations as to things to do in Chester, restaurants to visit etc Away from the house, I have a small interiors business and pride myself on providing a personalised, bespoke service to my clients. I have 3 grown-up 'children' and a lovely dog called Poppy
The house is very central, though quiet. It is a few yards from the canal, which has a number of good restaurants plus a Waitrose, if you prefer to do your own cooking. You can also use it to walk into town, and can join the city walls by the cathedral, following round to the amphitheatre and university in one direction or the racecourse in the other. Chester is a very historic town: A recent documentary cited the Romans as wanting it for the English capital city! In their day, the racecourse was a large harbour. The River Dee runs through Chester and sets the scene for many a beautiful walk along its banks. Chester is home to many a restaurant and tea-house. I always recommend afternoon tea at The Grosvenor Hotel(make sure you have an empty stomach - it's huge!) and the culinary delights of Sticky Walnut, over the railway bridge into Hoole - Their Sunday lunch menu is amazing value but be sure to book ahead! The Storyhouse is an Arts venue, recently created from an old town-centre cinema, hosting a library, cinema, theatre and coffee shop with scrumptious cakes! So much more to discover in this historic town and its surroundings, like Chester Zoo, a short bus-ride away!
