Mattishall is a large village in the heart of rural Norfolk. The discovery site of an archaeological hoard of silver coins hint to the village's historic agricultural roots. Today the village has a lively community with a sports and social club, school, surgery, local shops, and a fish 'n' chip shop. Mattishall Golf Club offers a great course for new and experienced golfers, while nearby Bawburgh Golf Club offers an 18 hole championship golf course with valley views. Local produce can be purchased at Acorn Hut Farm Shop and The Goat Shed, with delightful cafes found at both. Ten-minutes away, Barnham Broom hosts an excellent Brasserie restaurant, spa, and golf course. The nearby market town of Dereham, is stone’s throw off the A47 trunk road which is a gateway to all Norfolk has to offer; beautiful countryside, wonderful beaches, the Broads, and beckoning pubs. An excellent shopping hub, Dereham is also home to Bishop Bonner’s Cottage Museum, a trove of local history and the story of St Withburga will appeal to all with a visit to Withburga’s Well.
