Lavender Cottage is a 200 year old cottage with lots of period features (stone walls, beamed ceilings) and has been renovated to a high standard. We love spending time in the cottage and after a hectic week at work, there is nothing more welcoming than a bottle of wine in front of the cosy fire during the colder months or sat under the gazebo in the summer. You can escape the madness for a few days and enjoy the warm and friendly welcome that Pickering offers. The cottage is perfectly situated for restaurants and pubs. The local deli provides freshly cooked meals which can be re-heated and enjoyed in the comfort of the cottage and the black pudding sausage rolls and scotch eggs must be tried! Outside: Lavender Cottage has a lovely fully 100% enclosed lawned garden with shrubs and paved patio area. The gazebo is perfect for long summer evenings and you can enjoy breakfast on the patio area each morning. When you book our cottage we ask that you let us know if you are bringing a dog, the breed and name please, we like to leave goodies for everyone who stays at our cottage. We welcome 2 dogs at our cottage, but will consider more but only by arrangement and there will be an extra cost for more that 2 dogs … We do ask that dogs are never left unattended and we ask that dogs remain downstairs and do not go on the furniture.
We live in lovely York with our Labrador Mulberry and love exploring the North Yorkshire countryside. We love our cottage and have tried to provide a real home from home in the cottage. We have received lovely reviews from all of our guests. We have also provided a book of comments, recommending places to visit or sharing the highlight of their trips - please do come and stay and add your experiences - Yorkshire is definitely for sharing!
There are some lovely villages but Pickering is the gateway to so much. In Pickering there are shops, antique shops and a visit to the Flea Market is a must!! Soak up the atmosphere over tea and cake in one of the many tea shops and just watch the world go by. If it's a special occasion, why not book dinner or afternoon tea on the Steam Train to Whitby or dine in the White Swan. Whether you're looking to explore York, the stunning Yorkshire Moors or visit the coastal towns of Whitby, Scarborough or Filey - Lavender cottage is the perfect base and offers a warm welcome from your travels. We can point you to some more hidden away beaches and some amazing walks!! Some Of The Many Local Attractions The North Yorkshire Moors The North Yorkshire Railway Castle Howard Kirkham Abbey Rievaulx Abbey Rosedale Abbey Dalby Forrest(We provide a Pass for our guests) Eden Camp Flamingo Land Zoo and Theme Park Rides Go Ape The East Coast – Whitby; Scarborough; Bridlington, Filey and a few secrets we can tell you about York is only 30 minutes away and is a great place for shopping or just to walk round the city and visit the Minster.
