Middlesbrough is well laid out - walk north from the station for just a few minutes to the river and Transporter Bridge; or walk south into the heart of the town with its four shopping malls and then further to find numerous independent shops. Exploring the back terraced streets was a delight with rows of neat housing, play streets, play parks and even a 'gym' park. The real 'find' was a café run by Kurds with excellent traditional dishes, best service, and best price. A couple of things struck me about the town - very few dogs and no beggars to be seen. I travelled there by train and onwards to other destinations by bus. Both offered excellent timetables. Middlesbrough is built on salt flats so walking is easy. I enjoyed a visit to the Dorman Museum and to the local cemetery nearby but was disappointed by 'mima' the museum of modern art but they did explain that they were between exhibitions so one floor was closed.
A nice cosmopolitan city with plenty of green spaces. We ate in several different venue, and all were of a good standard. It was generally quite easy to get around Middlesborough, good transport links, and good public transport.
My original home town so I would be biased, but the Chadwick is ideally situated for in-town visiting/shopping/dining/etc. Lovely Victorian Albert Park close by. Town centre about one mile and has easy main road access to the beautiful Cleveland Hills to the west and several excellent beaches to the south. Interesting area.
Everything was central for what I needed. If you need to go some where there is a lot of road signs to follow so everything is quick and easy because it is dual carriageway. There lovely restaurants as well.
A decent town with a range of bars , and clubs in the centre to meet everyone’s needs, along with banks, good public transport and decent restaurants . Not to expensive in the town centre, if looking for a smart place to go out with friends then Southfield road is the classier place to visit during night . If up for a night out on the town and not bothered about music genre etc then pop world , turtle bay good .
Middlesbrough is my home town so I see it through different eyes from a tourist. Always good to visit my extended family on a regular basis. I would recommend any visitor to take a trip on the Transporter Bridge. Quite an experience.
