Scargill Castle nestles in the beautiful Teesdale landscape close to the Yorkshire Dales, Lake District National Park and the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Built in 1560 on the site of an earlier medieval castle, now fully restored from a crumbling ruin into a delightful retreat for two.

Barnard Castle is an historic town which took its name from the castle built around it. Take in riverside walks along River Tees or enjoy a walk through Flatts Wood. The Bowes Museum is the jewel of beautiful Teesside and is a hidden treasure. The museum houses significant and internationally recognised collections of decorative and fine arts. Within 30 minutes you can be driving through the stunning and breath-taking Yorkshire Dales, starting with the stunning dale of Swaledale, through to the beautiful market town of Richmond with its own ruins of Richmond Castle; or take stroll along the River Swale to a scenic waterfall descending through a series of waterfalls. A few miles further into The Yorkshire Dales and you arrive in the well-known Wensleydale. The Yorkshire Dales has so much to offer whether you are foot, cycling or just touring around.
