Scotland’s largest city, Glasgow combines Victorian architecture and a vibrant arts scene. A former European City of Culture, it is home to many national organisations including the Scottish Ballet and the National Theatre of Scotland. The museums are also world class. Not to be missed are the futuristic-looking Glasgow Science Centre and the eclectic exhibits at the Kelvingrove.
Lined with Georgian buildings, George Square is the city’s focal point and the spot for Glasgow Hogmanay celebrations. Fanning out from here are streets housing venues for the city’s main love: music. From classical concerts to up-and-coming bands, every taste is catered for.

It is a lovely city with lots of character and choices for food and drink. There is also a good array of visitor attractions and a rich history to the place. I was pleasantly surprised by the art scene not only current, but I discovered in its museum collections some Scottish artists from 1920s, 30s etc. that I was not aware of. Also cultural movements and societal - lost to offer. Would have loved to stay longer and actually explore its surroundings (walks or treks). For those who like to explore on foot: large streets, clean, safe - you can walk easily around the city despite the hilly setting. For those who like to use public transport - at this time (april 2024) the city is under a lot of upkeep and street repairs so it's not so reliable transport wise or as quick.

I went to university in Glasgow many years ago, it has changed a lot but is still very vibrant and buzzy! Lots of bars, coffee spots and restaurants to choose from. The West End is nicer than the City Centre and not too far out of the city to travel.
Recommend Rab Ha's for traditional Scottish food, Singl-End is a great brunch spot but booking is required.

Glasgow haSs a wealth of fine architecturemany Art Galleries and over 30 public parks.Only London has better shopping opportunities. There are a multitude of shopping areas within a few minutes walk of the Abode Hotel. There are rail stations thatconnect with the rest of UK as well as rest of Scotland.
Glasgow Airport is only a short distance from the city. There is a very frequent airport coach service from Buchanan Street Bus Station. You could get a train to Paisley and trhen a local bus to the airport, but Airport express coach is easier and faster.

I enjoyed exploring the Kelvingrove Park just across the Youth Hostel. It is beautiful, historic and tranquil, I loved it. I had also booked a hop-on-hop-off tour which I went on on Wednesday. If it were not for the pouring rain, I believe I would have enjoyed the tour around Glasgow. I was able to tour the Cathedral and visit the People's Palace, which was awesome. A short stop at OVO Hydro also enabled me to take some pictures outside the beautiful architecture of the buildings there.
Often come to Glasgow for gigs so always looking fro something reasonably priced and central. Great location and decent sized room close to the city centre. Nice that they offer twin rooms as I often travel with friends and it's nice to not have to share a bed. The room was well sized for Glasgow and the price was good. The hotel itself was nice, bar and cafe open late. Preferred it to other places I have stayed in Glasgow.
Loved the location of the Voco Grand Central Hotel as it was very close to shopping and the Grand Central train station. Great staff and facilities. Breakfast haggis was the best we had had in over 12 days in Scotland. The concierge was very helpful with information on restaurants and local transportation such as Glasgow's great subway, etc.
Excellent location for concert venue (Ovo Hydro) plus parking. Only a 30-minute walk into City Centre, George Square.
Hotel has music/Glasgow themed decor, clean, spacious public area. Rooms have all you need & comfy beds. Buffet breakfast had plenty variety, both hot & cold choices.
Staff friendly and helpful.
Would return again 😃
The hotel looks really good and the rooms were clean and comfortable! The staff were so helpful, kind and made us feel very welcome! The location is fairly central and you're about 10 minutes away from the city centre. I would highly recommend staying here and I would definitely book here again on my next visit to Glasgow!
A comfortable hotel with good room service. In the middle of everything and the staff was helpful. It was my first time in Scotland and the first hotel I stayed in when I arrived. It's a good base hotel and has everything you need. I was traveling as a single woman alone and I felt quite comfortable there.🙂
The efficiency of check in, helpfulness and attentiveness of staff.
Jacks bar was a lovely quiet, subdued vibe. Swift service.
Our room was a lovely size, it felt opulent.
The location was fairly central - easy to walk most city centre places.
It's a great hotel and I enjoyed our stay.
Location central to train station , express bus from airport drops you 2 blocks away 3 min walk . Also has the largest capacity in Scotland for hotels so always people coming and going which is nice . At night always a conversation to be had at bar as single traveler . Fast elevators
It was nicely located central in Glasgow. We stayed one night to attend a show in Edinburgh because hotels in Edinburgh during Fringe were too expensive. From here we could easily get to the train line and be in Edinburgh in an hour. For this purpose the hotel was good.
The hotel is in the city centre area of Glasgow and was very easy to find. The only thing I didn't find too convenient was that there was no kettle provided in the hotel. However, you can go to the front desk and ask the staff for hot water.
Excellent location. 10min walk to the ovo hydro where we had a concert and very easy to get into Glasgow city centre via the bus. Bus stop is right outside the hotel.
Room was a good size and very clean, and breakfast was lovely.
This is a very contemporary hotel with an excellent location to the city centre. The breakfast choice was great. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be staying here again when visiting Glasgow next.
Lovely staff, immaculate hotel, comfortable beds, very clean. Amazing location but waterside in city centre and 30 second walk from subway. Quiet and super convenient. Highly recommend it as base for few days in Glasgow.
The hotel is in a great central location in Glasgow close to everything we wanted to do. It is a very modern and streamlined hotel. The Scottish staff members were extremely friendly and helpful.
The hotel was in a fantastic location and we enjoyed being able to walk through Glasgow City Centre almost daily. It was convenient having the train and underground within walking distance.
