Loved the cottage, very quiet, bed was comfortable, little details like the electric blanket and a welcome basket of eggs and a few treats were lovely. Kitchen was small but very well equiped with everything I needed to cook or just re-heat food. Bathroom was stocked with a huge array of toiletries (honestely I have never seen so many toiletries in my life!) and there were biscuits in the biscuit tin! you can see the chickens and ducks across the road in the field. Lots of nearby walks, though not all footpaths are signposted and some might not have been walked by anyone other then me in recent memory! Lots of nice birds coming to the well-stocked feeders just outside the window, including a great spotted woodpecker that was a fixture in the morning and evening. Pheasants a plenty in the field as well. On a clear night you can see the milky way from the garden - don't even have to drive to a designated "dark sky" car park!

Sycamore Cottage is a stone built, end of terrace cottage within the small farming community of Lunds, six miles from the town of Hawes in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. This 'upside down' cottage sleeps two people and has a double bedroom on the ground floor, as well as a first floor family bathroom. The cottage also has a first floor sitting room with dining area and a small kitchen. To the outside of this cottage there is roadside parking for two cars and an enclosed garden with furniture and BBQ. Sycamore Cottage is perfect for a romantic retreat away and for those who wish to explore the Yorkshire Dales.

Neighborhood info

The delightful market town of Hawes is the highest settlement in Wensleydale and home to the delicious Wensleydale cheese. The town is also famous for rope making; a skill passed down through the generations and a fascination for many of the visitors that come to the town. A regular market is held on a Tuesday and Hawes has many excellent shops and eateries in its midst. The beautiful limestone countryside surrounding the town provides a huge variety of walks and other outdoor pursuits, and for sightseeing opportunities the area is unsurpassed with the spectacular Hardraw Force and the Aysgarth falls just two of the natural wonders to be seen. Hawes is a delightful town and makes a superb base for a holiday in this magnificent area.
