A well located hotel which we used so that we could easily access Portsmouth Ferry Port the following day. There was secure parking available just off site, the price for which was competitive. Our room was very comfortable although we had to climb up a few flights of stairs to get there. TBF the polite staff member who accompanied us to our room (all staff encountered were friendly and helpful) offered to help carry our bags. We had an evening meal at the hotel which we enjoyed and the included breakfast hit the spot. The hotel seemed pretty flexible about leaving our car in the car park the next day so that was a nice touch. The beach was literally a 2 minute stroll from reception and it was nice to have a walk along the seafront reviving pleasant childhood memories. Would happily stay here again

An important harbour for centuries, Portsmouth counts with one of the busiest ferry piers in the United Kingdom, has the oldest dry dock still in use in the world. Its Historic Dockyard is home to famous British ships like Lord Nelson's flagship HMS Victory, the Mary Rose and the HMS Warrior.
In the picturesque Old Town you’ll find typical English pubs, coloured houses, and small independent shops. It also has a Fish Market provided by the city’s small fishing fleet. In Old Portsmouth is possible to find smaller hotels, B&B’s and guest houses, some of them not far from the ferry harbour.
The Gunwharf Quays are a modernly renovated shopping area, home to the Spinnaker Tower, while the centre has an ever-growing number of shops. Don’t miss Commercial Road and the Cascades Shopping Centre. Hotels in Portsmouth’s city centre allow you to be close to everything what the city has to offer.
For relaxing moments, Portsdown Hill allows panoramic views over the city and the Isle of Wight. During summer, its sandy beaches are a must.

Obviously we spent a couple of days at the dockyard, visiting the Mary Rose museum and all the other attractions. Amazing time .
Day spent on the prom walking length of the prom. Lovely day.
Buses were brilliant, didn't need a car once we arrived.
Love Portsmouth, needed a week to see everything we wanted.

Portsmouth has much to offer visitors.
Portsmouth has much to offer visitors. Particular reference must be made to the historic dockyard, with its many historical exhibits. The whole area that surrounds the dockyard has been developed to exceptionally high standards, and the many pub/restaurants in the area cater well to those either thirsty, or hungry. Further afield Southsea offers an excellent beach, and amusements, with plenty of grassed areas for picnics and relaxation. One of the south coasts most interesting places to visit.

Central Southsea is a run-down student type area.
Central Southsea is a run-down student type area. Fast food outlets, convenience stores & bars are everywhere, along with the litter of a big city that doesn't care.
The Portsmouth Historic Naval Dockyard is very well worth a visit. A ticket for 3 different attractions seemed pricey at £46, but turned out to be a real bargain.

A visit to the Mary Rose museum is an absolute must - it is superb albeit expensive.
This review only reflects upon Old Portsmouth, Southsea and the regenerated areas around the harbour.
There is a lot of history around here and that is the main reason for visiting. A walk along the promenade is worthwhile as is a visit to the D-Day museum. A coffee or a beer in the pubs on spice island is a must do too.

Its a great place to visit, lots of things to see, plenty f restaurants and bars, great on a nice day or evening, and a shopping mall with all kinds of shops. And 2 miles along the coast you have funfair and adventure golf in Southsea, a typical seaside town.
Outstanding location, mere meters away from the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard as well as the modern Gunwharf Quays shopping mall. Charming traditional hotel in great shape, spotlessly clean. My single room was perfectly suitable for my needs. Staff were friendly, helpful, and accessible. Would definitely recommend for anyone visiting the Dockyard.
The hotel is convenient for Old Portsmouth and not far from Gunwharf Quays, in a fairly quiet area despite its High Street address. There are local options for breakfast and other meals while the attached pub is being renovated. Our room was small but adequate for a short stay, and staff on duty at reception are helpful.
Perfect position opposite Portsmouth harbour station , gunwharf quays and the museums , with fantastic views of the Warrior ship and the spinnaker tower
Very comfortable bed
Free secure parking
Very friendly staff
Nice and warm room , as it was freezing outside
But, as said, the location was great for the Historic Dockyard and getting around Portsmouth, it was quiet and the staff at the hotel where you book in were really nice, friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were very good and good value for money.
