Great location for exploring the area though you definitely need a car. Hosts are super friendly and the accomodation is amazing - superbly appointed kitchen, comfortable bed, everything one needs including a washing machine and lovely warm hallway to wash and dry your soaking walking kit! (We stayed mid-Novemember so obviously expected bad weather!!)

The Longhouse is located two miles from the town of Brecon and part of the 300 year old stone buildings that formed an old hill farm - The Held. The cottage is a spacious self-catering property that comfortably sleeps 4. The Longhouse is accessed from the first floor via the stairs and balcony on your private patio where you will find the large open plan lounge, kitchen, diner with vaulted ceilings and floor to ceiling windows to enjoy the views of the Brecon Beacons. Downstairs you will find the main bedroom with King sized bed, en-suite, dressing table, shower room and separate dressing area. There is also a Twin bedroom with small sofa and a Family Sized bathroom with bathtub and shower over.
From South Wales originally but worked away for many years returning in 2016 to settle in Brecon. Love travelling and hosting visitors to share with them the highlights of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Our home is on-site in the old stables so we are often around to answer questions or close by if you need anything but guests have a totally separate private cottage so we will not disturb you if you want your privacy too.
The Longhouse is at Hilltops Brecon about two miles up a steep hill from the centre of Brecon Town. The area is known locally as Cantref. Walking in to the town centre is either via the tarmac single-lane road or an old Drovers Track (public footpath) and will take roughly 30minutes. A Taxi back from town will cost 7 to 8 pounds if you want to save your legs. Parking space for two-cars is available.
