The Low Farm is a beautiful 17th century, stone Long House and adjoining Duddon View barn is a stunning converted barn. The two units combined offer generous accommodation for up to 13 guests and have many original features, including flagstone and Oak floors, Oak beams, wood burning stoves, open fire, Aga in house and a wood fired hot tub. They sit on a generous plot with beautiful gardens, unrivalled views & ample parking, just a short walk from the babbling clear waters of the River Duddon. You can booking The farmhouse (4 bedrooms) or Barn (2 bedrooms) separately or together if you need accommodation for a larger group. Both properties have super fast Wi-fi, FreesatTV (BT TV in house, smart TV in barn) , DVD's, board cabins and tourist information. They share a large plot, with mature gardens. and ample parking. Outdoor furniture and BBQ's areas are provided at both properties. Both properties are furnished to a very high standard with lovely antique furniture and all mod cons. Perfect location for large groups, with easy access to the central lakes and some great walking and cycling country.
We have been married for 25 years and have a grown up son and daughter. David works in construction and enjoys racing his Mazda 7 race car. Hannah works as a Teaching Assistant and loves her garden and the outdoors. We've owned The Low Farm for 4 years and have just finished conversion of Duddon View Barn.
The spectacular scenery of the unspoiled Duddon valley made it a favourite location of both William Wordsworth and Alfred Wainwright, both of whom wrote extensively about this beautiful part of the Lake District. Whilst in an ideal location to access the central & southern lakes and all the amenities on offer, the pretty village of Ulpha is an oasis of peace and quiet in an area still dominated by traditional fell farming. It is situated 4 miles north of Broughton-in-Furness & is a popular destination for walkers, cyclists, anglers, nature lovers and those just looking to rest, relax, breathe fresh air and take in the sights. The village of Ulpha is ideally located for access to central Lake District. It has a small shop / post office and the Newfield Inn / restaurant is 1.5 miles (comfortable walk) away in neighboring Seathwaite. The Blacksmith’s Arms in Broughton Mills (4 miles) serves great food and local beers and there are numerous other hostelries in nearby Broughton-in-Furness and Eskdale. The Stepping Stones and Ulpha Bridge are popular spots for swimming, picnicking or just messing about by the river.
