A well known and lovely old property in the centre of town that has been modernised to a very high standard. Our room (31) was on the top floor so quieter than a lower floor. The bed was comfy and the room was clean, spacious.
Dinner was excellent, the food top notch with good choice and variety and obviously cooked to order. We ate on a wonderful summer’s evening with the french windows opened into the restaurant giving a very continental feel vibe. Great value for our room which was also upgraded with Genius level but we thought that breakfast was overpriced at £17.50 each.
What made the hotel extra special though was the service and staff -we received a great Northumbrian welcome that was friendly and efficient without being pretentious.
Hexham has had a revival in recent years And now has plenty of things happening and local shops, cafes and restaurants all within easy walking distance of the Beaumont Hotel and it is worth strolling around the town to see some beautiful and historic architecture. It is also a great base for exploring the villages and countryside of Northumberland, Cumberland and the Durham Dales plus Hadrian's Wall of course.
To experience the real Northumberland, drive up into the Pennines to Allendale, Allenheads then into the Durham Dales to Rookhope and Blanchland- this is countryside far away from the tourist route, it's wild and open with big skies and so quiet. Best not to attempt this in bad weather or in wintery conditions.
Set in Hexham and only 38 km from MetroCentre, Stay On The Hill - The Coach House offers accommodation with garden views, free WiFi and free private parking.

Hexham has had a revival in recent years and now has plenty of things happening, local independent shops, cafes, great pubs and restaurants all within easy walking distance and a small theatre. There's plenty of history here so it is worth strolling around the town learning about the past and to see some beautiful historic architecture, it is also a great base for exploring the villages and countryside of Northumberland, Cumberland and the Durham Dales plus Hadrian's Wall of course.
This is a walkers/ cyclists/ bikers paradise so if you like getting outdoors in all weathers then visit Hexham.

The Abbey is very good with a good exhibition on view.
We also visited a couple of eating places which were very good.
Don't go to Haltwhistle on a Wednesday afternoon, although it is the centre of Britain, it's shops mostly shut on Wednesday pm!
Oh, and be sure to pack a rain coat, the showers can be very heavy, keep an eye on the clouds,

Hexham is a wonderful town to visit.
Hexham is a wonderful town to visit. The abbey dominates the scene and should be visited. This English town faced a lot of troubles when England and Scotland were separate countries. At one time Hexhamshire liked to think of itself as being a separete entity fom the rest of North-east England.

Great little town, very walkable, friendly people, lots of cute shops and cafes, architecture, and "old England" feel. The Abbey is spectacular, especially for someone who practices Christianity.

It's a beautiful town, very french we thought.
It has a farmer's market every two weeks, with local produce.
There's good supermarkets, Waitrose, Tesco, Lidl.
The park is a great place to walk around.
Close to other towns and cities in Northumberland.
Fantastic property for a short break in Hexham. Very clean and comfortable. Great onsite parking right outside the front door. Good kitchen facilities with a cosy lounge area with a large smart TV. Lovely bathroom with a large shower. The bedroom overlooks the garage roof and gardens. Bed very comfortable. Only a short easy walk to the town centre, either along the main road, or through the local park.
Beautiful property in the centre of Hexham market place.
