the location and facilities! We walked through the Gorge and wanted to spend the night in Agio Roumelli. the later checkout time was great as we were tired the next morning. We were allowed to take towels to the beach after checkout and use the restroom in the hotel to get ready for the ferry at 5:30. The location was superb to spend a day in Agio Roumelli. I don't know why more people don't opt to stay the night.

Located right on the beach of Agia Roumeli, the family-run Gigilos Hotel offers rooms with a private balcony overlooking the Libyan Sea. It has a seaside restaurant-café and sunbeds on the beach. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the premises. Gigilos' rooms are bright, and feature wood furnishings. Each room includes a mini fridge and air conditioning, TV, hairdryer and an private bathroom with shower. At our Gigilos restaurant-café, guests have the option of having their breakfast, a coffee or delighting in traditional Cretan flavors prepared with fresh, local products. The village of Agia Roumeli is accessible either by walking down the Samaria Gorge or by ferryboat from Chora Sfakion, Sougia or Paleochora.
