We had a flying visit due to a family wedding in Zante.
We had a flying visit due to a family wedding in Zante. Having arrived in the late afternoon we walked for as much as we could to cram in some sights which we managed. Discoverd a local greek restaurant which was out of this world, around the corner to the Disney restaurant, which looked fubn but I'd rather traditional greek food which is what we had. We walked to see the Acropolis, but queue was too long for u re time, so we walked to next hill and had the most stunning views for free...

There is a lot to see.
There is a lot to see. Would recommend splitting the sites to up over the days. Would suggest you drink lots of fluids as the weather was exceptionally hot. Luckily there are lots of kiosks selling cold bottles of water and the price is very reasonable 50cents a bottle. Acropolis museum is a wonderful building and the cafeteria on the roof has an excellent view of the acropolis. Botanical gardens were a good place to walk and shaded at times. The changing of the guard at the palace was also good. There were lots of places to eat at good prices.

Visiting the Plaka and historic sites plus great people and food over 2 days is good. Recommend to take a ferry or flight to one or more of the neighboring islands. We had a short time so took ferry to Egina a locals island which was perfection. From the port drove 20 mins to a nearby marina where we rented a hotel on the beach. Very few tourists (a contrast to Athens), private beach, excellent food, sun and relaxation.

Not much to see, except for the Parthenon and maybe the changing of the guards in the National Assembly. The real problem in Athens are there are just too many pickpockets and muggers in the metro stations (specially the Monastiraki, Syntagma, Omonia and Pireaus stations) and popular tourist destinations. And what makes these groups quite unique compared to the other cities in Europe is that they work in large groups (normally 4 to 6 people per group). so they would normally gang-up with you. So just a piece of advice, if you're arriving to this city either from the airport or the ports of Pireaus or Rafina and you're pulling along large luggage it would be advisable for you to not take the metro stations. 90% chance, you will get mugged.

A city where, besides the historical sites that must be visited, there is always something else to discover! If you visit it on foot, wear super comfortable shoes and be prepared to ups and downs, and to stairs with uneven and different steps.
Our last hotel on our two week trip to mainland Greece. I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel. Location to Acropolis cannot be beat, friendly staff who provided us with lunch and dinner options. The rooms were small which can be expected for any hotel in a big city but to our surprise both the beds and pillows were super comfortable. Breakfast on the rooftop terrace with a view of the acropolis was a great way to end our trip. Both the sunsets and sunrises watched from the rooftop were spectacular.
Good side view of the Acropolis from our balcony, but the best view is from the roof terrace open all day and night - also where you go for breakfast which is very nice. The staff are really helpful and the hotel is in a brilliant location for the main archaeological sites and the acropolis museum. We would definitely stay here again - it was the most expensive of all the hotels we stayed in during our trip around Greece but the we'd expect to pay more in the city centre and so close to the Parthenon.
Nice apartment and in a very good position! We've been to Athens many times and we are happy with our choice. Great beds and very comfortable. Pillows are also comfy! The kitchen is fully equipped. Also despite the fact that in Greece the internet connection is not strong enough, this apartment provides a high-quality wifi connection. The check-in process is also soft and easy and the host allows us an early check-in. We will prefer it in the future for sure!
The location was wonderful. Close enough to the main squares and attractions of Athens yet far enough to be removed the rush of the tourists. Picturesque streets, with many restaurant and bar choices nearby.
Property felt safe, clean, and had charm.
Dimitris was a wonderful host and made our first stop in Greece well worth it. He was respectful, provided great recommendations for food and must sees as well as organized travel for us from the airport.
This is our second stay here. First- the bed and pillows are the most comfy anywhere in Greece, (maybe actually ANYWHERE period). We love the boho vibe and eco-conscious nature of the hotel. The laid back common area is light-filled and surrounded by greenery. Breakfast buffet was nice but not the best we’ve had in Greece. The huge honeycomb was a highlight, though!
Easy parking on the street. Nice neighborhood. The staff is always cheerful and helpful.
If your traveling to Athens, Greece on a budget then this is the perfect place to stay. The hotel has all the basics you need. It was very comfortable, centrally located in the heart of the city where you can easily get around to the many different neighborhoods and sites. Best of all the owners & staff were all really incredibly hospitable and friendly. I would recommend Hotel Tempi to anyone who are considering a short visit to Athens to stay here !!
We were recommended this hotel by friends in New Zealand. It was very centrally located making getting around very easy. We caught the metro from the airport into Syntagma Square and it was a short walk from there. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent - a great way to start the day. We stayed three nights; two days at the start of our visit to Greece and one night at the end. I would stay here again without hesitation.
Valahouse was perfect, and the hosts were wonderful! Natalia and Evangelos were very warm, welcoming, attentive, and responsive. They went above and beyond to answer our questions. They also left homemade cookies for us that were delicious and a sweet surprise! The accommodations were perfect for us! Uber rides were easy to and from here to Athens and affordable. Super convenient to our son who was studying at Deree (American College of Greece).
This Hotel is simply amazing and worths way more than only 2-stars. Best breakfast that we had in whole Greece on a rooftop with stunning view over the Acropolis. Cosy and spacious and stylish rooms and located in the best neighborhood in Athens (at least in my opinion.) Best restaurants, nice little shops, authentic and no tourist atmosphere and only 1 metro-ride from monastiraki.
The BEST hotel in Athens without a doubt. The location is superb, come out the door and you’re in the street full of pubs and restaurants. Few mins walk to Plaka and Monasteraki. The pillows and bed are to DIE for. So comfy. The staff are so nice. Kept us up to date by WhatsApp and arranged airport transfers. Loved every second.
The hotel is new and very clean. The roof terrace was a lovely surprise. The service was excellent - by far the best during our trip to Greece. The rooms are compact but wasn’t an issue for us and the bed was very comfortable. The view from the room (505) was great! We will stay here again if we re-visit Athens
A warm and friendly, English speaking staff, clean, quiet hotel…excellent location (for going into Athens or traveling on to central & northern Greece.) Walking distance to a nice supermarket, 15 min walk to many restaurants. Very nice patio/porch seating for coffee or cocktails, in a garden space.
Very friendly and excellent reception staff Elina, she is one of the best staff in whole greece, I don't have any idea about tourist places in Greece, she only make my trip chart, and that's why my holiday was awesome , she help me to book ferry taxi flight and hotel in aegina island.....
Very close to the Acropolis and to other sites in central Athens. The staff was very helpful during our stay. We could leave our luggage in the hotel after check-out for several hours - it helped us a lot. It was a wonderful ending to our archaeological and romantic visit in Greece!
After a late flight to Athens, it was a luxury to walk across the street to this hotel. And wow the room was super comfortable, very quiet and dark. The room and food was a bit pricier than the rest of Greece but that’s to be expected for a hotel with this proximity.
Best location great staff when you come to Greece this hotel is a little peace of home , no language barrier right by the mediterranean with all the modern conveniences, that you were expecting a hotel in the United States
Spacious apartment in an amazing location. Air conditioner worked well. The host’s recommendation for Dimitrios for our airport taxi driver was excellent, he was very friendly and knowledgeable about Athens and Greece.
Overall, this was probably the nicest hotel I have stayed in Greece. IT was an amazing location, beautiful and so so so comfy. The breakfast was amazing, the ruins, the turtles, THE ROOFTOP POOL/ RESTAURANT. 1000/10!
An excellent hotel located in the best area in Athens. The staff is excellent and the rooms (even if not to bed) very comfortable. You have to have dinner in the restauarant. Its the best meal we had in Greece.
It was honestly super clean and the shower was better than i had in other apartments in greece.
If you are in athens, probably the best place to stay.
Plus a great rooftop bar
