This is an ancient inn in the country, lovingly restored by the owners. It is surrounded by fields and olive trees (and some solar panels) and cooled by the breeze off the ocean. The charming courtyard is the heart of the stone structure, a good place for breakfast, an aperitif and conversation and I imagine dinner, too, on warm nights. Kitties sleep in the sun and don't seem to bother the birds that fill the air with their song (and even keep a nest in the reception area). The indoor dining and living room is very attractive, modern yet cozy. Behind the hotel is the inviting swimming pool. Dinners were a highlight - we enjoyed two excellent meals served by the very friendly, helpful staff, Angelo and Marc. The owners are very generous with their time and are personally interested in your enjoying their hotel. The Borgo is close to the Valley of the Temples and a number of great beaches.
Offering an seasonal outdoor pool, Hotel Riviera Palace is set on the beachfront and is 1.9 mi from the center of Porto Empedocle. Guests can enjoy the on-site restaurant.

Great place to stay right across from the beach. The bed is firm and the pillows are flat but that’s really everywhere in Sicily. The restaurant is fantastic though. We came in the low season when there’s not much going on and loved it. There’s walkable spots for breakfast/lunch. The beach is really nice and great for walking. The Turkish stairs are about a 25 minute walk by the beach, do this rather than driving.

Montalbano fans will like to visit Porto Empedocle as there is a mural of Andrea Camileri and a bronze statue of 'Montalbano sono' in front of the pizzeria on the Main Street.
When in Porto Empedocle, a visit to the nearby 'Scala dei Turchi' is a must.

Nice restaurants, good food, nice prices and nearby beach, I would avoid staying at the apartment we booked called Gocce Siciliane Apartments. Embellished photos, dirty balcony, no parking for the apartment and fridge slightly bigger than a matchbox. Glad to see, in their reply, they agree the price is ridiculous.

Its really nice and quiet while only a stone's throw away from the major attractions.
It has some very good places to eat out and it is very easy to get around by foot.
It does have rather un-reliable public transport connections though as well as having some areas with an aweful lot of garbage and untaken care of public areas. However this is a general problem in many parts of Sicily.

The old part of the town has the most character.
The old part of the town has the most character. Via Roma is possibly the nicest street but there is also a charming piazza just a few steps further towards the harbour. It’s easy to find the town as it is the starting point for ferries to the islands. Parking is easy in the winter but maybe not so easy during holidays. It’s very much a working town with lots of industries around as well as some really picturesque spots. There are lots of restaurants with sea food as their speciality but you can get a range of menus and at least one catering for gluten free. Porto Empedocles makes a good base for touring all the main sites on the south coast. You do need a car as the buses are infrequent and there is no longer a passenger train service. The streets are very narrow so a small car with good ground clearance is recommended as the roads in and around the town are not well maintained.

The location is very good, there was no problem entering the property, restaurants are enough in the neighbourhood. We liked KENYA very much - delicious food, friendly staff... It's a pity that the elevator didn't work in the house, as well as the drenage in the shower. The sofa in the living-room was kinda strange...

I checked-in at the B&B late almost at 18:00 Mr. Francesco waited for me thankfully, my room was very cosy and neat, the hotel is right at the center of the city and near the bus station and the bank even. so it was very convenient for me. Unfortunately I wasn't able to have breakfast but the dining area was fully equipped and well organized. Mr. Francesco was more than accommodating, he told me about a few good attractions in the city and where to have a good dinner. I would definitely stay there again. 😍😍
Breakfast was good , nothing spectacular.they have no beach club being across the street from beach .pool is good ,no heating so a bit cold when you get in . Parking is included and you need a good goa to get to the back of hotel . Had a great dinner meal just 100 m from the hotel to your left .best meal mussels, calamari, pasta seafood bowl. Was a very good meal . Valley of the temples was a 10 min drive and 3 min drive to Scala turci. Had Oceanview room with big balcony .this was a great place to unwind.
In the middle of lively beachside town, next to town square. Very large and clean. We booked at 7pm because when we got to Agrigento we didn’t like it. Port Empedocle, a few k’s away on beach is much
Better place to stay. Host Livio waited for our late 9pm check-in ....even bought me a beer at the next door bar!
If planning to visit Agrigento, skip it and stay at Porto Empedocle, and if possible at Livio’s La Rosa
This sounds like a paid endorsement...believe me it’s not. We just had a bloody good time
We really enjoyed out stay with Giovanna's in her comfortable rooms. The delicious Sicilian breakfast included home-made cake, eggs from her chickens and citrus fruits fresh from the trees in the garden. A good location to explore all the wonderful places near Agrigento and the coast around Porto Empedocle by car. Giovanna is a wonderful hostess who gave us a very warm welcome and many useful recommendations for things to see and places to eat.
This small port town has little to offer for sightseers, the local colour contrasts with the polished tourist spots that dot the island, and it has a gritty authentic vibe you might or might not like. I liked it a lot! B&B Sicily is a great option in this alternative scene, and we enjoyed a very warm and professional welcome. The service and facilities are very good, the location is great, and it is very clean and quiet.
Great place to stay right across from the beach. The bed is firm and the pillows are flat but that’s really everywhere in Sicily. The restaurant is fantastic though. I loved Porto Empedocle, which is the town where the Sicilian writer Andrea Camilleri was born... so it's filled with this atmosphere... real town and nice people, to me. Maria is a charming lady who lives in the building, and responds to questions and needs if possible. The bed was a little sofa/bed in the living-room, for one person. The apartment is centrally located and has an old school vibe.
We were traveling all through Sicily and this was a small slice of heaven. World class hospitality and accommodations in an incredibly serene setting. The owners are warm and welcoming, they anticipated our every need. The restaurant served a beautiful breakfast and our dinners, prepared by their private chef served under the stars was an amazing experience. We did not want to leave.
The appartment was very comfortable and has a very good position for discovering the beauties of Sicily around! We enjoyed evening on the beach that is just across the street. The beach offers few bars and view on the sunset. The biggest suprise was a breakfast that we got from the owner (the best croissants we have ever eaten!) Thank you very much for such a pleasant stay!
Salvina was a wonderful host. She greeted us with an aperitivo. She gave a booklet with recommendations for restaurants, beaches, and sights to see. The hotel was located just a few minutes drive to the Scala dei Turchi and about a 25 minute drive to the Valley of the Temples. The rooms are modern and very clean, and the shared terrace has a beautiful view of the sea.
Difficult to find use hotel website, very rural. The guy deserves to succeed turning four 16th century walls into a four star quirky hotel. I say quirky, our wardrobe was a stone alcove with a piece of driftwood on which to hang our clothes, attached by rope to the ceiling, you get the idea. Lots of little crannies very tastefully done
The accomodation is right across the beach. The access to the room is modern, with no key, but with a code.
The room was simple, with a fridge and a kitchen.
The air conditioning was great.
The surrounding area of Porto Empedocle is nice, you have Scala dei Turchi to the west and Valley of Temples (Valle dei Templi) to the east.
The hotel is PERFECT! it is very clean, better than the photos, great location, big rooms, great bed and very kind owner. Nino, the owner, was very friendly, helpful and kind. He is always smiling and very helpful. The location is perfect - across from the beautiful beach, and has reserved parking. It was a wonderful stay!
Perfect location, with a choice of sitting at the pool or walking out directly onto the beach. One tip, bring swim-shoes as a bit rocky for swimming access, unless you walk further up the beach. Had dinner in the hotel and it was lovely. Good size bathroom - very good shower. Good options at breakfast.
The hosts offered to transport us for the closest nearby city (Agrigento) to the village for a small collaboration of 10 Euros (Porto Empedocle) Also they were communicative and friendly. - They provided us with the bus times, which was good to be able to move around!
Vow, such a wonderful hidden gem. We were so lucky that we found this hotel. Super friendly staff, Excellent clean rooms. And bonus their pizzeria which is attached to the room is exceptionally amazing. Thank you so much making our stay so spaecial.
Gerlando was very hospitable and gave us very valuable information to visit the surrounding area and the landmarks such as "La valle degli templi" and "Scala dei turchi".We also appreciated the happy holiday text after we left the hotel.
The owners were welcoming and very kind. Everything in the apartment worked fine. It was spacious and comfortable. Location is ok for Porto Empedocle. The neighborhood is quiet and not so busy as the rest of town.
