I like mostly the food and the prices of some restaurants, but sometimes the service charge is too much. I found it very easy to use the public transport in catantia and to go to other places like Taormina, Castelmola, centro sicilia and Sicilia outlet etc, etc.

Travellers tend to pass Catania town by. Many sights are within easy walking distance. It has ancient amphitheatres which we loved and fabulous churches along Via Crociferi. For a pleasant interlude a Hop on Hop off bus can take you up the coast to see the environs and the Cyclops rocks.

Catania history center was quite shocking.
Catania history center was quite shocking. Dirty, garbage on the streets, nobody cleans after the dogs, abandoned buildings, impressive old palaces uncured, decaying, facades ruined...
However, the easygoing way gets under your skin in just a day or two. Lot of small eateries and bars where you can enjoy your food, coffee or drink and kind citizens, always ready to answer any question a tourist could have, beat the flaws.
Palaces and city structure with long wide streets show the splendour this city had in the past. Pitty it doesn't apply for the present. It has so much potantial, and not only for tourism.

The city of Catania is an exceptionally dirty city, where the strong influence of past poverty is strongly felt. It's one of the uglier cities we've visited in Sicily, but it's definitely worth seeing and experiencing.
The location was good, a few blocks from Piazza Duomo where restaurants and cafes are so at night had some movement but the hotel was far enough that you didn't hear any noice.
The room was big in size, the bed super comfy, bathroom well ventilated. Small shower but with good water pressure.
Serena, the host/manager was very kind, helpful and spoke very good English...which I found is not common in Sicily.
The room also had a water kettle and some coffee/tea/sugar for you to use. The bathroom had some toiletries too.
The bedrooms were really modern and had a lot of privacy for a shared hostel room. Aircon was a big bonus as it was 38 degrees. The square where there are lovely restaurants is a few minutes away by foot. Staff were friendly and organised a hike up mount Etna once/twice a week. To be honest I did not spend much time in Catania itself as I used it as a base since it was close to the airport I came from, and was going back to. It is really a nice location to do day trips to other areas of Sicily and to climb Mount Etna.
I loved the location, I thought the host was totally professional and she was definitely on top of things. She always answered promptly to any questions we had and made the experience A1 quality. I loved the 2 balconies my room had you can hear the music amplifying from the main square, but once you shut the doors its silence and we loved that, bc Catania stays up LATE.. It's literally within 20 min walk of any and everything you would need to get to to have a legendary experience in Sicily.
Absolutely gorgeous place. Don't let the outside fool you. Italy has so many old buildings Sicily too
But the long winding steps ( a lot) no elevator was worth it.
Maria was an angel
I checked in early and she carried my heavy suitcase for me!!
Only thing I didn't like was they sent me two text stating if I lost a key or did something (can't remember) id automatically be billed 200 euros
Uh I don't think so
We booked this Hotel for our last night before we left Sicily because it's near the airport. It has a beach area in walking distance, which was nice but not the best water quality. There is free parking for cars. The dinner was outside in the garden which looked really pretty (we just saw it, ate elsewhere). Breakfast was okay but nothing special and little selection in my opinion. Staff was friendly.
Near the airport so we ditched the car hire back to company. Used taxi into town and had a great afternoon and evening as last night in Sicily. Barman at the hotel was good and we had drinks there before heading out. Breakfast was good enough. Staff helpful and friendly. Could see Mount Etna from our balcony when the clouds cleared.
Excellent luxury hotel in the heart of Catania, we were very comfortable here and very happy with the service. The breakfast was excellent, with variety to choose from and very fresh high quality food. We slept better here than any other accommodations we had in two weeks in Sicily. Excellent supplies in the room, very high quality.
The staff were excellent, they helped me organize a cake for my fiancé’s birthday. They let us store our luggage there when we arrived early. They also helped organize a driver from the airport to the hotel. We were only in Catania for 1 night but they showed us where to see/eat while we were there which was helpful.
We had a very nice stay at Vera room. The location is good, the room itself is very comfortable and with the beautiful ceiling. Alberto was very kind and easy going. Our plane was delayed but Alberto still picked us up from the airport and gave us good tips for Catania and Sicily. Thank you!
Phenomenal location, absolutely lovely host (helped us with all luggage and left water and snacks for us!), great value and super comfy and clean. Was just perfect for our last night on Sicily prior to an early morning departure from Catania airport. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again!
Simple but clean rooms. A family staff ready to share with you suggestion of the city.
Great location, close to restaurant and market areas. Just a few walk from the direct bus to the airport from Catania.
Nice original painting, also oil ones, all around the hotel
This hotel is right next to the airport in Catania, it literally sits next to the rental car lot and it is just a short walk to the terminals. We stayed here because we had a very early AM flight. For convenience to the airport, this place is a winner.
Perfect hotel for travellers / business . Selected because of access to Catania airport with parking space . Impresses by facilities so could easily have stayed longer as good base for Etna , Taormina and Catania .Ortigia only I hr away
We had a great time on Catania. The apartment was very nice and the hostess was kind and helpful all the way. The place is perfect if you have a car and want to visit various places on Sicily.
Excellent location in the old part of Catania, art gallery style boutique hotel. Historical building. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Nice breakfast in the balcony with fresh air.
The boutique hotel is well positioned, just 5 min walk to the terminal at Catania airport. There is no staff at reception, you receive clear instructions to get in via your mobile phone.
Amazing luxury boutique in a great location for exploring catania
