Real guesthouse feel - the host was super nice, very chatty and friendly. He drove me to and later picked me up from the Snow Monkey Park, and also dropped me off at the bus station after I checked out. Breakfast was quite lovely and worth the price. It even accommodated for my allergies. The whole place was immaculately clean and well-maintained. I was recuperating from snowboarding injuries and and my warm, comfortable bed really hit the spot.

Guest house Honami-Kaido was a lovely start to my trip to Japan! The host was incredibly giving and helpful the entirety of my stay. He was able to first of all adjust my dates with no problem. Pick me up from the train station as I did not have a car, and drove me wherever I needed to go! This was such a wonderful accommodation that I did not get anywhere else in Japan for my month long journey. I enjoyed seeing the monkeys, going to the resort and the amazing hot springs nearby.

The location was really nice, we arrived by car and found the place easily. Only 25-30 minutes from the central ski resort of Shiga Kogen. We really enjoyed our stay, the owner is really nice and friendly with lots of little touches! The breakfast is something!

Le Japan

The guest house was a peaceful 20 min walk from Yudanaka station, winding through orchards and green houses. The common room was amazingly rustic with an firewood-based heating system. It was nice to lounge about and chat with other travelers. The quilt and blanket in the bedroom was sufficient to keep me warm on a sub-zero night. The breakfast of udon with pork, scallops, mushrooms, onions, an egg and a vegetable fritter, accompanied by a side of pumpkin, tea, and slices of pear was exquisite and very filling.

One of the most unique memorable stays of our whole Japan trip. Beautiful interior, wood, warm, there is a piano. Unique to stay on a Japanese guest house. Made pizza. Very highly recommend the breakfast as well. Our host was very kind and picked us up from the train station and drove us to see the snow monkeys. Picked us up from the footpath at the train station as well. Very highly recommend this stay.
