My brother and I went to Rockford for a wedding and the little time we stayed up there was very pleasant. The location of the wedding reception was at a country club which was very nice. This seems to be a pass-through town on the way to Chicago and crossing interstates. I recall a time when it was much much smaller and rural. I can't say what the attraction might be, save a respite from having to deal with the cost and inconvenience for parking of the Chicago metro area.
