FAQs about hotels in Philadelphia

Friendly City of the Founding Fathers

The birthplace of American independence, Philadelphia was founded in 1682 by William Penn. The name of the city translates to City of Brotherly Love and the city itself is a vibrant mix of history, art and culture.

Philly is famed for its public art with more sculptures and murals than any other city in the USA. Seeing the best graffiti and statues won’t break the bank balance, since you can find many free tours and admire them absolutely free of charge!

It’s also home to many national historical sites with the Independence National Historical Park as a starting point and center for all the major landmarks, including Independence Hall, where the Declaration of Independence was signed and the Liberty Bell is located, the symbol of the American Revolution.

Visit the world’s largest urban landscaped park, Fairmount Park, with over 17 square miles of green area. There are plenty of paths and hiking trails and after that, enjoy a local cheesesteak sandwich, soft pretzel or some Tastykake snacks.

Arriving at Philadelphia International Airport, you’re just a 20-minute ride from downtown. Booking.com has a variety of hotels in downtown Philly, near the airport or for the sports enthusiasts, near the Wells Fargo Center.

The lady that checked us in informed me that she put us on the first floor because it was the safest. She was very friendly and courteous. And she especially looked out for our safety for myself and my family. She asked us to not go to the upper floors and to stay in our hotel room. I would understand this if it was a cheaply rated hotel room in an unsafe area, but it was not. It was located around many other hotels. And the area looked very safe.

Never in all my trips through the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, or Europe did I see a Supervisor or manager, even the 5 Start Hotels, do the job with such adherence to the rules, but also with a vocation for service, attention and perhaps I can say love Apples Hostels have that person and Her name is JULIA LANZARO, thank you so much.

Very clean rooms, beautiful modern facility in the heart of two universities, all within walking distance to restaurants, bars and attractions. The location is great, there was plenty of space and it is walking distance to many historical sites and great restaurants. The kitchen was fully stocked and Target was a short walk away so we could make breakfast which was nice. For a family of 5 this was some of the best bang for your buck relative to some far more expensive downtown Philly hotels.

It was dirty!!! Hair in the tub. Blood on the shower curtain. The smoke smell was terrible. I felt like I smoked a pack of cigarettes by morning. It was. non-smoking room. 🤔It may have been the worst hotel I ever stayed in. I thought it was cheap because it was outdated and run down and only needed to stay for about 8 hours.

The ease of access and convenience to downtown is the best part of this stay. While I stayed alone, the room could have easily fit another person without feeling like you were on top of each other. The hotel is on a big street so I felt safe walking, even at night. It's also only a 10-15 minute walk to the PA Convention Center!

The hotel is very nice, small and located in the city centre of Philadelphia in the gay neighbourhood, which has many advantages and some disadvantages (see below). The advantages are that the neighbourhood is safe, even at night, with many bars and restaurants close by. The price was reasonable for USA standards.
