Coniston Water highlights

Fells Surrounding Coniston Water
The fells around Coniston – one of England’s largest lakes – scramble over a craggy face of hillside, offering a workout for you and your four-legged friend. Start in the village and pass Church Beck waterfall to be immersed into greenery and climb your way further up the fells. After reaching Low Water, there’s a steep climb to be tackled, before you’re awarded with spectacular views of hills.
Old Man of Coniston Walk
If you and your pooch are up for a challenge, this route encompasses old quarry ground, inclines and the ruins of mining outhouses. Wind your way up from Coniston, past lakes and waterfalls to reach the valley’s peak. The summit is 600 metres, so go prepared. The views from the top, taking in Coniston and its surrounding peaks, will make the ascent all the more worthwhile.
