FAQs about hotels in Osaka

A Stronghold of Japanese Culture

At the meeting point of river and sea, huge Osaka combines forward-thinking development and sure-footed tradition. This is symbolised in its temple-like, 16th century castle, guarded by ramparts and enlivened by vibrant spring cherry blossom. Dominating the surrounding skyline is Osaka Business Park, a reminder of the city’s strong role in the Japanese economy.

However, the most striking skyscraper is the Umeda Sky Building - 2 towers connected by a rooftop terrace offering far-reaching views. The nearby Osaka and Umeda train stations are linked by underground shopping centres, while the shops of Shinsaibashi’s America Village appeal to a younger crowd. Dōtonbori’s neon lights promote more shops, as well as restaurants considered the best in Osaka. In a city touted as Japan’s culinary capital, that’s quite an accolade.

The Tsūtenkaku tower overlooks Tennōji Park, home of the Osaka Municipal Museum of Art. Another nearby park houses Shitennō-ji, one of Japan’s oldest Buddhist temples.

The Kyocera Dome Osaka is a shrine of baseball, and more thrills are at waterfront Universal Studios Japan, the country’s 2nd largest theme park. Also by the sea is Kansai International Airport, on its own artificial island.

The capsule hotel was invented in Osaka, and alongside this type of accommodation, Booking.com also offers luxury hotels with pools, cheap hostels and traditional ryokans.

Osaka offers enough attractions to keep you in town for long time. Not only the Universal and the Aquarium but also the parks and hiden temples and famous temples. The city is easy to commute as it is well served with subway, buses and trains. Great places to eat alone or with family. Notice that most of people can communicate in English or appreciate when foreigners make the effort to speak japanese.

However long you think is enough in Osaka, Double it.

However long you think is enough in Osaka, Double it. There are so many easy spots to get to from Osaka, that if you are using it as your base, you would not need to go to Tokyo at all. Easy access to so many places - but be prepared to get your steps in. We averaged 20,000 steps per day (sometimes many, many more) and that was whilst still using the public transport. Buy your tickets in advance wherever possible. The lines get long in the heat and we managed to bypass pretty well all of them by using online bookings (Osaka castle, Aquarium, Universal etc, all easily skipped lining up) Plenty of not as busy places to go such as Tennoji Park Zoo, temples everywhere, Daruma Shrines. We would have skipped Tokyo altogether had we known how fabulous Osaka was. If you like to shop, Shinsaibashi is where it's at, every store you could imagine is there and it is safe for families to walk at all hours. If you're there in June/ July, pack an umbrella that you can carry in backpack/ purse. As well as spare pairs of shoes as the rain comes in hard, and you'll get soaked and soggy feet.

Osaka is a bustling town with amazing food and fun people. My favorite night life in all of Japan! I was also really impressed with Den Den Town, which is like the Akihabara of Osaka (part of town with games, toys and anime). I'm not sure if this is a hotel take, but Den Den Town was actually a much better experience than Akihabara for me. I found a lot more unique stores and it seemed less touristy.

I had 5 days, 4 nights in Osaka and the highlights for me were the friendly helpful people and the great variety of traditional Japanese cuisine, the Osaka Castle and the Umeda Sky building. I also enjoyed dinner in the evening lights at the top of the Umeda building! And the two train stations downtown can transport you anywhere you would like to go and it was very economical!

Osaka is culturally significant and a simpler place than Tokyo. It is a great base to see Kyoto & Nara. Best part is USJ - the best for any family with young kids. Lots of great places to eat near Dotonburi & Shinsaibasi. The metro travel is superb and very convenient to get around Osaka.

The Rise Osaka is a nice hotel which is about 15 min walk from Daikokucho subway station. This station is just one stop away from Namba station with easy access to shopping and food outlets at Dotonbori. Rooms were clean and well maintained. The breakfast is of great value offering a large selection of Japanese and Western food including sashimi. Do check out on Google maps the shortest walk from Daikokucho station with Exit 1 bring the closest.

It’s very convenient, walking distance to the metro station, to Dotonbori and convenient store is just down the hotel, McDonald’s is just at the corner. Room is spacious compared to other hotels we’ve been to in Japan. The location is a big plus for this hotel and would definitely stay again when I visit Osaka.

Modern hotel, super comfortable rooms. Breakfast was really great, one of the best we had during our trip across Japan. While not in the center itself, Dotonbori / Namba is very easy to reach by metro or walking. Lots of options for food & drinks nearby, and a 7/11 across the street.
