Get up early in the morning to watch the surfers. There are a few coffee shops open very early so you can sit and enjoy your coffee while watching the younguns riding the waves. The sunsets are awesome.

This beach has huge waves and not necessarily swimming friendly. If you’re a surfer than you want to stay there. We stayed across from La Playa Principal which means the main beach and the waves were smaller and more areas to swim in.

Pretty big waves. Not good for little kids, but great for surfers. But as yo move down the beach toward Puerto Escondido, the waves get smaller. Nice free lounges and umbrellas if you buy a drink or food.

Beautiful and spacious, this is the beach for lying around—maybe on a restaurant chaise—and be lulled by the sound of the crashing surf....but not always the beach to swim at, as the waves can get too big for it. Trade-off ;)

Surf and sun. Lots of restaurants, bars, shops. Large enough that you don't fell crowded during Easter week in Mexico.The week before Easter in Mexico can be very busy on public beaches...especially beaches within 3-4 hours bus drive from large cities within Mexico.

The location of this hotel is the best thing going. It is right in the heart of Zicatela Beach but was quiet for sleeping and it is right next to a great restaurant called Elephant Garden. I was hoping to use the pool area (which looks like the best feature there), but ran out of time. Internet is so so if you have to work. There is drinking water provided in the hallway to fill water bottles, but none in the room. Staff was kind but not overly friendly. The room was clean, but several issues upon check in.

Our favorite part of Hotel Santa Fe is the wonderful on site restaurant- hands down one of the best restaurants in Puerto Escondido! Can’t wait to come back!

The staff was very polite and the location is incredibly central, making it easy to get to anywhere along the Zicatela beach by walking. We did have hot water in our room so that was a nice unexpected bonus. Also, the resident hotel cat, Rahoul, was the highlight of our stay!
