A lovely little town in a superb Alpine setting.
A lovely little town in a superb Alpine setting. Outside often the loudest sound is the distant clangour of cow bells. Everyone there is really friendly, there are good options to eat out, the local trains give access to some great places, and if you stay more than one night (I think) you get a Pays d’en Haut discount card for reduced entry to various places (including the wonderful L’Etivaz cheese cellars) and free travel on local trains and buses.Guest review byAndrewAustralia - 10.0

While my wife took part in dancing courses, I hiked in the nearby mountains and along the Sarine river. Chateau-d'Oex is easy to reach by public transport. The views are great. There are various nice restaurants.Guest review byHubertusSwitzerland - 10.0

Chateau-d’Oex is a friendly little town with a range of facilities and attractions in the area with decent shops for food, some nice restaurants and cafes and a helpful tourist information office. There are a wide range of locally produced foods including truly excellent cheeses (like Etivaz and also those from Rougemont nearby).Guest review byAndrewAustralia
