We had a delicious breakfast both mornings on the terrace. There was a restaurant for dinner next door. This area of the Lot Valley has a variety of activities nearby--walking through the Saint-Cirq-Lapopie village, hiking along the river, the Pech Merle caves. We are so glad we stayed here. This town is a gem - the real France and away from the tourist beat. Its cathedral is unique and exceptionally old. A little French is a help here. Very good and inexpensive restaurants. Take the Little tour train for a great orientation.Guest review byTarr-Whelan - 10.0
Where we stayed was a restored castle.
Where we stayed was a restored castle. It was wonderful inside. The staff were very helpful. The part of town we stayed in was quaint and very walkable. I would have loved to stay longer. We ate at a small Crepery that was right around the corner. You have to be there early and make reservations. We did it online and almost didn't get in. The food was good.Guest review byBrendaUnited States - 10.0

We were there on July 14th and enjoyed a concert and the most impressive fireworks we have ever seen. Soullac is a lovely town with a good vibe and interesting sites to see around it. Don't miss the Grottes de Lacave!Guest review byCharlotteNew Zealand - 6.0
We visited Gramat in the spring and the weather was dull.
We visited Gramat in the spring and the weather was dull. The town appeared run down in areas with not much going for it. There were some good restaurants. The animal park is worth a visit. The aqua park didn’t have clear information about opening times. Close enough for other attractions and towns to visit. Rocamadour is close by. Plage de Gluges 15/20 minutes. Carannac Aventure for canoë and paddle board hire with a lovely crazy golf and snack bar 20 minutes.Guest review bySACUnited Kingdom - 6.0

Pros: breath taking beauty, calming nature, lots of great hikes and food. When we were at hotel or just walking around the nature I felt so at peace Cons: as Americans we were made to feel extremely unwelcome in many establishments. I speak a little bit of French, but have a hard time understanding fast speech. We were mocked multiple times when people thought we couldn’t understand them. When we asked for help in various situations we were greeted with hostility or laughed at and ignored. So maybe skip this area if you don’t feel comfortable in your French speaking abilities.Guest review byMollyThailand - 10.0
Mrs. and Mr.
Mrs. and Mr. Eccles are perfect hosts and I could only wish that I could have the same experience in other places we've visited. More than helpful, they were eager to suggest what to do in the region, which restaurants to visit and they made all the required reservations. Also, the route to Rieuzal is very well marked (obviously the couple is not french so you have marks at every crossroad and you just can't miss:)). The view is fantastic, it's also very quiet and just perfect to have a good and relaxing stay. Though we've been in Périgord for several times, this was our best stay ever and I don't believe it could be beaten easily...Guest review byRokSlovenia - 10.0
Martel was the perfect spot to visit the Dordogne Valley.
Martel was the perfect spot to visit the Dordogne Valley. It combines beauty with services such as supermarket, local markets, the best bakery in the lot!, night entertainment… it small, picturesque, charming but still practical and vibrant on some evenings or market days.Guest review byBelindaNetherlands - 10.0
One of the most visited places in France and rightly so.
One of the most visited places in France and rightly so. Try to pick your dates slightly out of season if you can as 1.5 million visitors come to this little town. The Chateau has amazing views, not for those who have a problem with height though. Wonder around the old town and visit the Sanctuary. We stayed one night which was perfect as we saw everything we wanted had a fabulous meal.Guest review byVanessaFrance - 8.0
Cahors is a nice little city.
Cahors is a nice little city. There isn't much spectacular to see or do, but it kept me busy for a day. The medieval bridge is nice, the cathedral was worth a visit, and it's nice to walk next to the river that encircles the city. Keep in mind, on Sundays, nearly everything is closed. Even finding a restaurant for dinner was a struggle. I wonder if the locals even eat on a Sunday...Guest review byPeterBelgium
