- From $671.33 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.8Excellent - What previous guests thought, 87 reviewsMy stay at Bastide de Marie was an enchanting experience, woven with exceptional experiences and delightful hospitality. This serene Provencal sanctuary, nestled amid vineyards and olive trees, offers an unparalleled atmosphere of tranquility and charm that captivates from the moment you step onto the property. The dining experience at their restaurant, managed with great care by Geoffrey, was a true culinary delight. Every meal was a celebration of the region's rich gastronomy, masterfully prepared and presented. It was evident that Geoffrey and his team are deeply committed to offering an extraordinary dining experience. Their passion for Provencal cuisine and their ability to translate it into mouthwatering dishes is commendable. Leading the helm with grace and warmth, Mireille ensures that every facet of Bastide de Marie shines. The comfort and satisfaction of the guests clearly lie at the heart of her leadership. Her attention to detail and the creation of a welcoming and delightful environment did not go unnoticed, contributing significantly to my remarkable stay.Guest review byDmitryIsrael

When we arrived, we were met by staff as if they were waiting for us. She offered us drinks at the pool which she served expertly. Our room was explained very clearly as well as all hotel and dining amenities. We felt very welcome and comfortable during our two night stay. We loved our excellent dinner, drinks and daily breakfasts. Our room was superb and we hated to leave. Lovely property.Guest review byMcDonellUnited States

We just loved the city.
We just loved the city. There was plenty to do and see and the restaurants and bars were all really good. We wanted to visit the Pont du Gard and took the local bus to get there and back. The hotel we stayed in was well situated to do this and the bus was comfortable and very reasonably priced.Guest review byHeatherUnited Kingdom - 10.0

I drove down from the Marne valley and this was as far as I wanted to drive in one day! Orange is a delightful little town with Roman theatre the main attraction, but I used it as a base to visit Mont Ventoux (Tom Simpson memorial), Avignon, Arles, Camargue and Pont du Gard - all easily reached by car. Quieter than the main Provence towns but with nice restaurants and cafes so was very happy with it as a base for 3 days. Favourite lunch spot was the Brasserie du Mule du Pape in Chateauneuf du Pape.Guest review byBodosUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Excellent town to base yourself for 3-5 days.
Excellent town to base yourself for 3-5 days. Wandering around town in cafes, shops and restaurants along the canals. Cycle hire recommended for a day trip out to the countryside. Within 1 hour you can explore Provence Lavender fields and Monastries, beautiful old historic French villages and lovely countryside.Guest review bySimonNew Zealand - 4.0
There was an extremely high cost to use the pool and spa.
There was an extremely high cost to use the pool and spa. This was not evident when booking. Also a ridiculously $$$ amount for vandalism tax which is refundable but an extreme measure since the hotel is not even in the city of Avignon. But still there is a city tax. On the plus side there were options for dining out not far from the hotel.Guest review byWendyAustralia - 8.0
Perfect place to explore Provence, it's right in the middle.
Perfect place to explore Provence, it's right in the middle. In the town you will find the basics: supermarket, some restaurants, others. The old towncenter is nice, and late afternoon (not on marketday) we found good parking facilities. Tip: google maps doesn't know that some streets in the old town are closed and it navigates inside impossible places. It's better to park next to the river and walk 3 minutes to the center.Guest review byPéterHungary - 2.0

Gordes is very pretty but does get quite busy with visitors.
Gordes is very pretty but does get quite busy with visitors. Some of the other villages nearby are also lovely and much less crowded - for example Oppede le Vieux, Menerbes and Venasque. The Abbaye de Senanque is well worth a visit - a beautiful old abbey in a lovely location.Guest review byandrewUnited Kingdom - 10.0
We love visiting Malaucene.
We love visiting Malaucene. The cycling in the area is fantastic and it's easy to drive to other places such as Arles, Avignon, Orange. We ate at a variety of restaurants, all pretty good - The Blueberry, Chez Max and The Terrace are our favourites.Guest review byJacquelineUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Definitely rent a car from the airport and try and do it straight through your airline. It’s very hard to get a taxi though I believe there is uber. Having a car means you can visit Gordes and other local towns and markets.Guest review byLauraUnited Kingdom - 8.0
We visited in July during the French Theater festival.
We visited in July during the French Theater festival. It was a little too busy for our liking, but if you like French theater, it's a great time to be there. We took a tour of the Pope's palace, which is amazing and well worth visiting. We also did a half day tour of the lavender fields, which are about an hour away. Probably a full day tour would have been better. Good walking city overall.Guest review byCharlesUnited States
