Oxford is nice for anyone liking old Architecture but wasn't as lively as i thought it might be. I love flowers & gardens so visited The botanical gardens they were rather drab & brown. I know there is a hose pipe ban but not for businesses. We visited Oxford to see Diddly Squat Farm & The Farmer's Dog Pub which wasn't dissapointing.Guest review byLINNEEUnited Kingdom - 10.0

A nice little town which we visited for social reasons. Hit on market day which added to the atmosphere. Other than that we did not spend a lot of time there but would like to investigate further should there be a next time.Guest review byBarryUnited Kingdom - 10.0

It's a lovely village as has numerous nearby villages that are definitely worth visiting. We were looking to have a chat with locals in a pub and weren't disappointed. Everyone we met was friendly to us and we certainly enjoyed the various village pubs we visited. We particularly liked the Blue Boar in Chipping Norton (sitting outside basking in the sun) and Chequers at Churchill - great atmosphere with good food and service. Also close to Diddly Squat and Farmer's Dog which we visited and were lucky enough to meet Gerald at the Farm shop. We didn't go into the shop or the pub but as a visitor we enjoyed the alternate experiences available.Guest review bySandraAustralia - 10.0

Delightful old town with lots of nooks and crannies to explore. Lovely old buildings, especially the almshouses and the church. Friendly people. Good eating places. Smashed avocado at The Pablo Lounge is excellent! Good location for catching a bus into Oxford or for exploring the area generally. Walks along river delightful.Guest review byPamelaUnited Kingdom - 2.0

The front desk was terrible and gave us a downgrade on our room and then told us there was nothing that could be done due to being sold out and because we used Bookings.com. We complained, asked for the manager and showed the pictures on a Superior room from their website and on our booking. He moved us to a family room, but it had 2 double beds and two chairs seating vs a Superior room has a king bed and a settee and a desk. It was not what we wanted, but it was better than the standard room with a king bed (incredibly small room) that they tried to put us in.Guest review byTrinaUnited States - 6.0
The Thames is stunning and worth a stroll along.
The Thames is stunning and worth a stroll along. Sit and watch the birds, fish, boats, dragonflies, and people enjoying themselves. The Rose Revived Public House and Restaurant is not for fine dining but you can have a wonderful meal and a lovely drink in nice surroundings. The willows and gardens are lovely. The waitresses like Ella are well trained and full of life.Guest review byNicholas - 6.0

Parking can be challenging; the free car park allows only 12 hours out of every 24hrs. Paid parking has max stay of 4 hours so there may be the need to move your car frequently if you're not going out during the day. Lots of pubs and hotels are dog-friendly but there aren't many places to take a dog for a walk. There isn't a lot of grass around unless you want to pay £31 to walk the dog at Blenheim Palace. Woodstock is however a very pretty town with lots of places to eat and drink. Probably better if you don't have a dog or a car though.Guest review byALouiseUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Thame is a very nice small market town.
Thame is a very nice small market town. There are some very lovely medieval buildings in the high street and a nice church where Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees is buried. It is a very good base for cycling either to the north, north-west to Oxford or south to the Chilterns. There is the Phoenix Trail which will take you to the base of the Chilterns. Lots of nice tea rooms and good parking either in the centre of the town or in various car parks near the high street.Guest review byJUnited Kingdom
