Tge staff were very attentive. The room - Jacobean - was quiet, comfortable and spotlessly clean with a large bathroom. The bedding was lovely and we enjoyed the tea, coffee and treats provided in the room. The breakfast was outstanding, everything you could want was included. Great location with good parking and right in the middle of town.

FAQs about hotels in Cotswolds

The Quaint Heart of England

One of England’s most quaint areas, the Cotswolds are an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with rolling hills interspersed by picturesque villages with limestone buildings.

From Cirencester to Chipping Campden, Stow-on-the-Wold to Stroud, the laidback lifestyle makes this area a great choice for an escape to the country. Booking.com has some fabulous accommodation and, of our range of Cotswolds hotels, luxury and budget alternatives are covered in equal measure.

The largest place is Cheltenham, a wonderful Regency spa town. Neighbouring Gloucester has some well-preserved medieval buildings and an impressive cathedral. Some of the most photographed medieval Cotswolds sights are the Arlington Row almshouses in Bibury. To the east beautiful Burford has a high street going up a hill, Burford Priory country house and the large Cotswolds Wildlife Park just south.

More feathered friends are found in Birdland Park at Bourton-on-the-Water, a lovely village with low bridges spanning its river. Forming a triangle with it are Moreton-in-Marsh and Chipping Norton, whose former mill and almshouses are worth a look. Broadway to the north-west has a main street in the shade of hills, one of which has a tower from where it’s said you can see 13 English counties!

Wherever you decide to stay, check Booking.com for great Cotswold hotel deals.

Amazing rural location, wonderful building and surroundings. Lots of public spaces in the manor - pool room, library, garden viewing rooms and balconies. The cocktail bar is a real Experimental experience - great cocktail menu, wonderful selection of spirits and very knowledgeable mixologist. The crackling fireplaces everywhere are a real treat in winter. Breakfast is great - all options available (except fresh vegetables...). Dinner at the restaurant is a real high-end experience.

Perfect for relaxing and kicking back for a few days. Quiet afternoons in the lounge area or a drink and meal in the bar/restaurant, the whole experience was excellent from start to finish. Staff were very welcoming and polite. Food in the Hook Restauarant was excellent as was the breakfast. Having stayed at dog friendly hotels in the past, the experience at The Fish takes it to a whole different level, our little dog also had a Pawsome stay.

Location was excellent, right on Moreton’s High Street, and close to shops and restaurants (although the food was so great there is no real need to venture outside). The staff were extremely friendly, and made our short Cotswolds road trip one to remember (parking lot access was great -right behind the hotel, through a beautiful garden), we’ll be sure to come back!

Roadworks made journey time longer than expected, but on arrival, reception team, friendly and helpful, we ended up with a family room for 3, very spacious, robes provided for spa, which we used everyday, hot tub, sauna, steam room and pool ,all in working order , area all clean, showers in changing were hot. We ate in hotel in evening, food not cheap, but was worth paying for, both of us were pleased with presentation and taste, not a huge menu, but nice to see various choices , other than, chips chips, chips. A good night's sleep, no noise... would definitely use hotel again

We stayed at the stratton house hotel with our dog. We went for an evening dog walk at the Roman amphitheatre and abbey gardens which were both nice. We then walked through town to The Bear Inn for some dinner which was delicious and dog friendly. The city center looked nice and it would be nice to go back during the daytime when everything is open.

Not forgetting our visit to Hawkstones brewery, our son give us *tickets as a gift, very enjoyable 2 hours talk, tour and tasting of beers and ciders. * ( purchase on line), plus a small shop to purchase the ones you liked.

The village was lovely. We had breakfast in Nero’s nearly every day, we needed the air conditioning in the cafe due to the heatwave. Good location for travelling to Oxford, Bourton on the Water and Diddly Squat Farm. Italian restaurant opposite our hotel was fantastic, La Veccia I think it was called, as was The Rolling Hills Burger Bar.

Stow on the Wold is ideally located if one intends to explore Cotswold in 3/4 days. Most of the scenic villages like Bibury, Bourton on the Water, Broadway and Slaughters are close by. Burford is a pretty Cotswolds small town with some interesting medieval buildings. The High Street is very steep. It was very busy on a sunny day and parking is an issue. The surrounding countryside is lovely and the town is well placed for visiting attractions like Blenheim Palace and the Cotswold Wildlife Park.

There are simply no negatives with this property/accommodation. Everything is within easy reach and the situation/location is ideal for visiting other surrounding villages. We did not see even one policeman during our stay. A tranquil and peaceful part of the world that you have to see and experience in order to appreciate it`s beauty. I said NO NEGATIVES but perhaps the only thing that surprised us was the fact that restaurants were shutting around 5pm and on the Sunday the Horse and Hounds Pub, shut it`s doors at 7pm.. NOT A PROBLEM but more of a strange thing to happen. A very busy village during the day with coaches arriving all the time but at night it was a ghost town but idyllic for those who love peace and quiet.

It is a very attractive town with the range of good eateries and cafés. It is within walking distance (approx 1hr on an attractive, mostly well signed posted, cross country rural walk) of Longborough Opera which is our main reason for going. The walk back to MNM at the end of the Opera is absolutely glorious (see photos). It has a good gelateria! The bad news is there is very little lower budget accommodation; surprisingly few B&Bs and guest houses, and only higher end hotel options. Information about public transport is seriously lacking and there is inadequate taxi service cover.

A trip to the Brewey is a must (it gets very busy) and The Ale hoise is a top pub (saw a great band there)Good location to visit Slad (laurie lee's birthplace and wher he now rests) and enjoyed the Woolpack Pub where there is memorabilia to the man.
