Absolutely quiet location in the night, after 22:30 you can hear waves from the sea also in rooms oriented to the pool. No noise from other guests, no shouting & laughing from the bar ... The hotel was full of families with children (including mine) and the night was really quiet every time - I was surprised - we could sleep with window open although our room was oriented to the pool. Hotel was fully booked but there were no queues in restaurant, neither morning nor lunch or dinner, as mentioned already, the staff did a great job. Food was very good and tasty, with so many choices of cold and warm kitchen, fresh fruits and vegetables. Nothing was missing even if we came 15 minutes before closing ! We also very much enjoyed Croatian water melons, they were just great. Big plus is also an option to eat on big and spacious terrace (if it's not too hot), close to promenade. Room was pretty small and simple furnished, but clean and practical. The place is amazing and the beach is beautiful, just be sure to take some shoes because there are rocks at the beach. There are a lot of activities to do during the day and the island has beautiful spots. After the check out they let us stay there and use the facilities, which was great. Lovely promenade - masses of bars and restaurants, great atmosphere in the evening, particularly. People promenading, very buzzy and busy, great for people watching. Huge choice of places to eat and drink all day. Not much to do in Split itself, but lots of places to visit from there - number 37 bus to Trogir (or better to get the ferry, it's quicker and much more pleasant!), day trip to Plitvice Lakes or Krka Lakes, ferry to Hvar Island (and get the bus to Stari Grad and climb the hill to the cross, then have a beer on the harbour front). Hvar Town has a lovely promenade - and quieter than Split, more chilled. Luxor bar and restaurant was a real find in the evening - live music, people sitting around the courtyard/atrium, really great vibe. Smaller yet compact old city center where you will find everything you need just in few steps. Big grocery store just next to the bus station, big outdoor market place, fish market, promedande, countless number of restaurants, public transport and several beaches. Makarska is nice place to visit in June and September. July and August is very hot and a lot off tourists on the beach, and on the streets. A lot of traffic, problem to find parking place. Hvar centre is over priced and if you do not get recommendations where to eat you could end up paying a lot of money for poor quality meals. The island itself is beautiful and worth exploring on your on own. For me, this is simply the best place in Croatia. It's smaller than, for example, Makarska, and lacks noisy clubs and loud nightlife, which I consider strong advantages. You can find everything you need: beautiful beaches, bars, snack stands, and upscale restaurants. Perfect for a chill holiday. Beautiful, lots to do, great restaurants. Would recommend the Golden Horn beach for a swim, booking SUP boards for some exercise and wine tasting at Stina winery. If you decide not to do the wine tasting tour, it's a lovely place to sit and drink their amazing whites on the promenade overlooking the sea. My favourite restaurant was Vendetta - Sushi boats for 2 are a must! Kastela is a suburb near Split which has 7 small villages and is an easy driving distance from Split. The beaches are small and pretty and not crowded at all. The sand varies from being quite coarse to large pebbles and the waters are crystal clear. There are some sports activities like jet ski. Initially we thought it was a bit far from Split, but then realised it has a lot to offer (good beaches, restaurants, cafes) and transport into Split is one bus ride. For us it was all we needed - swimming every day in sea and hotel pool, good lunches and dinners in local restaurants, a trip to Split and a trip to the island of Brac for variety. Crystal clear water and you can see straight to the bottom even when it’s deep. The water is so clean it’s almost unreal, like swimming in a giant natural pool. If you love pristine beaches and amazing water quality, this place is absolutely worth it. The only downsides are that getting into the water can be a bit tricky since it’s rocky rather than sandy beaches.
