Loreto Aprutino is a fantastic historical little town in Abruzzo region. If you come here once, you will want return as soon as possible. Here, you can feel the atmosphere of the past, can breathe the fresh air of nature, can try local "arrosticini" or fine wines of Loreto. From here you have a splendid view of the Adriatic sea as well as Gran Sasso d´Italia (the highest peak of the Appenine peninsula). Go and see with your own eyes, it is worth!
Functional little town, a stopping point for skiing or seeing more of Abruzzo. The drive to Rocca Calascio and visit there were amazing.
Pescara is really 2 towns separated by the river. The new town contains hotels, shopping and the beach. The old town contains historical buildings, the farmers market and more shopping. In addition to the town, there are castles and wineries in the outlying areas and the tours and tastings are amazing. We only had a day of touring but it lasted from 9am until 1:30am the next morning! We should have allowed much more time to explore this beautiful area. A 'must-do' when visiting is dinner at a Trabucco - set price (50 euro for each of us) and 10 courses of seafood in a rustic place over the Adriatic Sea - priceless memory! We found our guide on Abruzzo-Link and Angelo Brigante was phenomenal! Even though this area is not widely publicized, it is a gem along the eastern coast.
Assergi is a small village, typical for this area of Abruzzo. The people are friendly and helpful to visitors. The local cuisine, while not extensive, is very delicious and meticulously prepared. And it's not too expensive, so you get a lot of value.
Hiking from town to the "Heart of Scanno" panoramic view on the lake is easy. The lake itself lake offers facilities as well, nice hiking in the Abruzzo NP is possible. The road from Sulmona to Scanno is often quite spectacular. A few km before Scanno there's also lago di San Domenico. But the town itself is also worth to enjoy. Bring a book and go sit on a bank to enjoy the atmosphere. People are really friendly and everyone knows each other. Also check out about the famous photographers that visited Scanno. Lively atmosphere during the evenings in the central square.
A very pretty hill top village surrounded by spectacular scenery. All the necessary amenities are there including restaurants, a small supermarket, a pharmacy and cash point. It is also an excellent base for exploring both Abruzzo and Le Marche and is about 20 mins from the coast. You will need a hire car to get around.
Very friendly and welcoming people although the personnel manning the ticketing office at the bus station could do (much) better. I liked the beach and the roofed market. Food was great too in all eateries. The Museo delle gente d'Abruzzo was worth visiting. Not much more caught my eye in terms of what to see/do, maybe better signage and promotion of tourist attractions could help. Defo too much graffiti and in certain areas, cleanliness could be improved.
Isola del Gran Sasso has plenty of restaurants and enough shops to cover basic needs. It is a good base for exploring the Abruzzo countryside though hikers should allow plenty of time to get to the various mountains. It takes about an hour to get to Campo Imperatore for example.
Quaint old town in the Abruzzo area with a beautiful backdrop of mountains in the background. Lots of bars, restaurants and shops to go to.
Sulmona was a great place to stay on route to southern Abruzzo. If you are a skier or bushwalker then this would be an excellent city to be based. The central piazza with its aqueduct is magical in the evening and the snow capped mountains make a stunning backdrop to the city.
This beautifully restored, family-run hotel is a gem! They even planned a detailed day trip itinerary for us, with a handmade map and created a very memorable adventure for us in the Abruzzo Region. On our departure day, they insisted on providing breakfast for us at 6:15AM, even though the normal start of breakfast is 7:30AM. Wonderful people in a wonderful hotel! If you have the opportunity to visit the Abruzzo region, stay at the Hotel Rojan in Sulmona. You won’t be disappointed.
We highly recommend Hotel Arimannia. Our guest room was beautifully decorated and quite nice. The staff was always there if we needed anything. David is the best! He was so accommodating and made us feel like part of the family. Thanks to David and a wonderful Chef, we were introduced to a new Abruzzo wine and had the most amazing Italian dinner! Our stay in Caramanico couldn't have been better. We will be back!
Very conveniently located, really nice room with excellent bed. Had a great sleep. Very efficient and friendly staff. Great attention to anti Covid measures
Excellent Staff! Gluten free and lactose free options for breakfast. Good coffee!
Great location to explore the Gran Sasso National Park. Save time and drive to Camp Imperatore to get to the best trails. The Abruzzese local food served in their restaurants was fresh and phenomenal. The town has some construction underway due to an earthquake a few years back .
The jams for breakfast were great. We loved the wedding celebration that was going on. We were able to listen to the music and see the happiness of all involved. Great cultural experience!
all the breakfast items were fresh and delicious
Staffs, beach front location, good breakfast and decent washroom, especially an unbeatable price.
Nice well kept hotel with fabulous breakfast and customer service !
The room was big with a great view. All the rooms are viewing the sea. The quality of the stay was excellent and the value of the offer was super!
All was wonderful except air conditioning
Love the property, it was beautiful. It is hard to get to, but once there is lovely. I dont like the cash only approach for food and beverage so spent money in the nearby beach town and local grocery store for food .
The breakfast was great! there was a good selection of items to choose from. The view was spectacular! Our room had a beautiful panoramic view , from the mountains to the sea. The staff was very helpful.
- professional entertainment staff - nice combination of beach and pools
What a wonderful experience! Everything was perfect. The room had so many special touches. The breakfast basket was full of delicious goodies, both sweet and savoury. Thank you Ettore and Barbara for creating this relaxing, special place.
Staff were all very helpful and friendly
