Set in Roccaraso in the Abruzzo Region, 3.7 mi from the Monte Pratello ski area, Hotel Il Bucaneve features a terrace, a garden area, free WiFi, and heated ski storage space. Given our misadventure due to a wrong turn, we arrived later than we anticipated. Angelo and his wife Fiorentina helped the five of us bring in all the gear and luggage for three days of skiing. They were expecting us. They asked about our dinner plans. They called the restaurant for us. No problem. Angelo knows everyone in the area. And everything about the area. The hotel is three years old. It is gorgeous. Stone and wood. Villeroy & Boch bath fixtures. Beautiful, but not pretentious. The hotel is even more beautiful in person. The pictures do not do it justice. Every detail is thought of. There is a ski room to store your gear. And it is heated. Angelo pipes heat into the lockers so that your gloves, helmet and ski boots are warm and dry for the next day. It also keeps your room much tidier. Very nice touch. I communicated with Angelo prior to our arrival. He was extraordinarily helpful with regard to the Alto Sangro ski area. He told me all about the mountain, where to park, where to rent gear, where to eat lunch etc etc. Everything I needed to know to get the most out of our three days on the hill. The breakfast is all home made. Cornetti, Ciambaline, cake, cookies. All amazing. Excellent coffee. After a day of skiing or after dinner, we were invited to share an aperitivo, digestivo, hot chocolate coffee with Angelo and Fiorentina. Our kids looked forward to it everyday. We felt like we were staying with an Aunt and Uncle in their gorgeous ski house.
Located in Castel di Sangro in the Abruzzo Region, 5 mi from Roccaraso. Guests can enjoy the on-site bar. Free private parking is available on site. All rooms are equipped with a flat-screen TV. Very nice continental breakfast with eggs, juice, great made-to-order coffee and cappuccino, and amazing pastries and cakes. Rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable -- we travelled with 11 family members from 2 to 80, and everyone enjoyed their stay. Our room was a family suite with a kitchen, dining area and large bath. Especially nice was the outdoor covered patio where we spent every evening drinking wine and enjoying the summer weather.

Loreto Aprutino is a fantastic historical little town in Abruzzo region. If you come here once, you will want return as soon as possible. Here, you can feel the atmosphere of the past, can breathe the fresh air of nature, can try local "arrosticini" or fine wines of Loreto. From here you have a splendid view of the Adriatic sea as well as Gran Sasso d´Italia (the highest peak of the Appenine peninsula). Go and see with your own eyes, it is worth!
Functional little town, a stopping point for skiing or seeing more of Abruzzo. The drive to Rocca Calascio and visit there were amazing.
Pescara is really 2 towns separated by the river. The new town contains hotels, shopping and the beach. The old town contains historical buildings, the farmers market and more shopping. In addition to the town, there are castles and wineries in the outlying areas and the tours and tastings are amazing. We only had a day of touring but it lasted from 9am until 1:30am the next morning! We should have allowed much more time to explore this beautiful area. A 'must-do' when visiting is dinner at a Trabucco - set price (50 euro for each of us) and 10 courses of seafood in a rustic place over the Adriatic Sea - priceless memory! We found our guide on Abruzzo-Link and Angelo Brigante was phenomenal! Even though this area is not widely publicized, it is a gem along the eastern coast.
Assergi is a small village, typical for this area of Abruzzo. The people are friendly and helpful to visitors. The local cuisine, while not extensive, is very delicious and meticulously prepared. And it's not too expensive, so you get a lot of value.
Hiking from town to the "Heart of Scanno" panoramic view on the lake is easy. The lake itself lake offers facilities as well, nice hiking in the Abruzzo NP is possible. The road from Sulmona to Scanno is often quite spectacular. A few km before Scanno there's also lago di San Domenico. But the town itself is also worth to enjoy. Bring a book and go sit on a bank to enjoy the atmosphere. People are really friendly and everyone knows each other. Also check out about the famous photographers that visited Scanno. Lively atmosphere during the evenings in the central square.
A very pretty hill top village surrounded by spectacular scenery. All the necessary amenities are there including restaurants, a small supermarket, a pharmacy and cash point. It is also an excellent base for exploring both Abruzzo and Le Marche and is about 20 mins from the coast. You will need a hire car to get around.
Very friendly and welcoming people although the personnel manning the ticketing office at the bus station could do (much) better. I liked the beach and the roofed market. Food was great too in all eateries. The Museo delle gente d'Abruzzo was worth visiting. Not much more caught my eye in terms of what to see/do, maybe better signage and promotion of tourist attractions could help. Defo too much graffiti and in certain areas, cleanliness could be improved.
Isola del Gran Sasso has plenty of restaurants and enough shops to cover basic needs. It is a good base for exploring the Abruzzo countryside though hikers should allow plenty of time to get to the various mountains. It takes about an hour to get to Campo Imperatore for example.
Quaint old town in the Abruzzo area with a beautiful backdrop of mountains in the background. Lots of bars, restaurants and shops to go to.
Sulmona was a great place to stay on route to southern Abruzzo. If you are a skier or bushwalker then this would be an excellent city to be based. The central piazza with its aqueduct is magical in the evening and the snow capped mountains make a stunning backdrop to the city.

This beautifully restored, family-run hotel is a gem! They even planned a detailed day trip itinerary for us, with a handmade map and created a very memorable adventure for us in the Abruzzo Region. On our departure day, they insisted on providing breakfast for us at 6:15AM, even though the normal start of breakfast is 7:30AM. Wonderful people in a wonderful hotel! If you have the opportunity to visit the Abruzzo region, stay at the Hotel Rojan in Sulmona. You won’t be disappointed.

Wonderful setting underlooking snow-capped mountains and overlooking (distantly) the Adriatic. Attached to a Michelin 1-Star restaurant (highly recommended). Friendly, efficient staff -even called local winery to make sure they had our reservation. The chef even helped with our bags. Ask about other restaurants to eat in and about wineries to visit (if you have a good GPS). Bonus -- they have an elevator. Reasonably centrally located to visit other parts of Abruzzo.

Lovely, quiet property in the beautiful Abruzzo countryside. Very responsive and helpful host. Super clean, spacious room with good-sized bathroom, shower had great water pressure and plenty of hot water, lots of space around the sink for toiletries, comfortable bed with nice bed linens, fast wifi, easy parking. Tasty breakfast with a bit more variety than many morning offerings in Italy. Would definitely stay again and highly recommend to other travelers.

We highly recommend Hotel Arimannia. Our guest room was beautifully decorated and quite nice. The staff was always there if we needed anything. David is the best! He was so accommodating and made us feel like part of the family. Thanks to David and a wonderful Chef, we were introduced to a new Abruzzo wine and had the most amazing Italian dinner! Our stay in Caramanico couldn't have been better. We will be back!

We loved everything about Agriturismo Angelucci. The property was stunning and our room was spotless. Hot water with good pressure. Our daily breakfast was slightly different each day and featured local dishes specific to the Abruzzo region. On top of this, the staff couldn't have been more wonderful. We enjoyed talking to Anna and Vincenzo - they couldn't have been more friendly and accommodating.

This is a fabulous little B&B in a tiny town in Abruzzo. It's clean, bright and very homelike and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and Liliana and Vincenzo were great hosts. The views from the porch and balconies are gorgeous as is the entire property. We wouldn't hesitate to return or to recommend it to other travelers. The town nearby has several restaurants ... we ate very well!!!

This very lovely hotel - a renovated stone palazzo - is located in an unassuming town not far from L'Aquila, ski resorts, and Santo Stefano di Sessanio. The owners were gracious, the breakfast bountiful, and the rooms were big, clean, warm, and comfortable. It was a perfect base for exploring the best of Abruzzo.

Claudia and Francesco were attentive and very friendly. The location was perfect in every way. We went to experience the culture of where my family was from and we certainly got a wonderful feel for it, confirming the way we grew up in America was authentic to the Abruzzo way.

To be entirely honest, this was our first trip to Italy and we didn't know what to expect, but everything was fantastic and we had an incredible trip. Our room (426) had a stunning view of Silvi Alti and of the beautiful beach especially from the balcony and was very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice of good quality fare. As for the location, you could fall out of the hotel on to the beach or in to the swimming pool and there were lots of very nice places to eat within a short walking distance. The bar was great and well stocked and all of the staff really could not do any more for us, including arranging a Wine Tasting session at a local vineyard, which was fabulous!! We hired two bikes (free) for a couple of hours and rode along the coastal path to Pineto to have coffee and a look around, something I'd recommend, even if like us you haven't been on a bicycle for 20-30 years. Walking up and down the very clean and sandy beach at least twice daily was a huge pleasure and I'm sure we'll be doing it again.

Property itself was great!! Beach access, pool, poolside bar and on site food. Staff did their best to communicate despite language barrier. Lifeguard on duty at beach and pool. Fun atmosphere. Staff that was onsite to keep things fun for the kids. Great family atmosphere. I appreciated the drying racks outside of the annex rooms. Annex rooms were nicely situated on the resort. Rooms were a decent size and very basic. Front desk called taxi for us to go into town. Very nice breakfast and meals. Easy walk from train station

The first thing that impressed me was the welcoming at the reception, Marjana is a very wonderful, helping person. She can advice you on everything to this town and hotel. I am really happy to have experienced this time at the hotel Amiternum. I recommend to everyone else that this is the perfect place to stay for vacation or bussinness. Goodbye And till next time.
