- From $101.45 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Excellent - What previous guests thought, 3,820 reviewsANTEROOM Kyoto doesn't bury the lede: it's a former high school turned into a true art gallery with a boutique hotel. It's beautiful both inside and out: art installations greet you when you arrive, as well as a stylish bar, a make your own bath salts station, arcades and claw games. And that's even before getting to the rooms: they're HUGE for Japan standards. Even though I wanted a room with a queen bed, I got a spacious one with double twin beds but it wasn't that much or a problem. Common japanese amenities are provided, and the hotel is located in a comfy and quiet neighborhood. I would stay here time and time again. Staff were so kind when we had a couple of issues, and spoke fluent English. I even bought a couple of souvenirs from the art store!Guest review byCarlosMexico
- From $102.84 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.8Excellent - What previous guests thought, 1,004 reviewsThe hotel is about 20 minutes on foot from Kyoto Station, but around 8 minutes to the nearest subway station. It's only one stop on the subway from Kyoto Station. The rooms were small, but very cute! Each room has a record player and one record. You can check-out vinyls from downstairs as well. Breakfast was decent! They let you choose from a waffle or a bagel, and then you choose the other things yourself. My colleague and I LOVED the free ice cream every night. It was amazing.Guest review byBethanyJapan
- From $167.73 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.4Very Good - What previous guests thought, 1,252 reviewsVery good location, just across the road from Kyoto station. Room was a great size and very comfortable. Staff were fantastic. I had to see a doctor while staying at the hotel and the staff were very helpful, contacting a nearby medical facility to book an appointment and explaining my symptoms. I would definitely stay here again if visiting Kyoto.Guest review byYvonneUnited Kingdom

The hotel is very central and clean, it made me feel at ease since the first moment. The highlight was surely the breakfast, lots of eastern/western options good food quality. Don't miss the orange French toast, that was delicious! I would highly recommend and go back should I visit Kyoto again.Guest review byValentinaItaly

We loved walking the Philosophers Path and having lunch in that area. We went to the 400 year old Ozu Washi paper shop which was great. The bamboo walk was interesting and the Golden Pavion was beautiful. Kenninji Temple with its zen garden was so peaceful.Guest review byChrisAustralia - 10.0

Miyazu which includes Amanohashidate, is one of three natural sites in Japan. The land bridge spans across the sea is fun to view from the observation points (on both sides) and you can actually bike (20 minutes) or walk (50 minutes) one way across. A small town with lots of charm and beauty.Guest review byAmyCanada - 8.0
The staff was awesome!
The staff was awesome! They did everything in their power to ensure I had a pleasant stay. Room is extremely small by US standards! Room could use a microwave, the only one available was on the ground floor and I was on the 7th.Guest review byMarkGermany - 10.0

Kameoka is the starting point of the famous and historical Hozu River rafting ride that takes you to Arashiyama, home of the famous bamboo forest. Enjoy the rafting, enjoy Arashiyama and take the train back to Kameoka. Hotel is a 5 minute walk from the station. A perfect day.Guest review byDeepuJapan - 8.0
The owners were very friendly and helpful.
The owners were very friendly and helpful. Everything was very clean! The only confusion was that the description on Booking.com states that breakfast is available, it doesn’t say that you pay extra for it. I also paid for towels. If I understand correctly the coat is then deducted from the room fee but it really wasn’t clear.Guest review byCatherineCanada - 10.0

Getting around the city is easy, whether on foot, by bus, or by metro. Cultural and historical richness is almost everywhere you look. The city is modern, yet its atmosphere remains calm and serene. With countless gardens and parks, it offers peaceful spaces to relax and connect with nature. Summer may not be the most colorful time of the year in Japan, but it comes with a welcome perk: fewer tourists!Guest review byHervéFrance - 10.0

Lots of tourists on holidays but pretty peaceful on normal days. The beach was great but I think they limit the days you can swim. Nice stroll along the sandbar. Amanohashidate is the main thing, there's nothing much to do in Ine aside from taking the boat tour. It's probably best to take the tour that starts from Amanohashidate and goes straight to Ine if you want to save time.Guest review byAshwenPhilippines - 10.0
I especially recommend it to travelers from overseas.
I especially recommend it to travelers from overseas. If you are sightseeing in Kyoto, Nara, or Osaka for a few days, staying at this facility and using Kameoka as your base will be the best way to travel to Kansai. Like taking a day trip from your home. If your schedule is 2 nights and 3 days or 3 nights and 4 days, it is definitely a good deal even if you add transportation expenses. You can't stay in a house in Kyoto or Nara.Guest review byeltopoJapan - 10.0
We truly enjoyed our time in Kyoto.
We truly enjoyed our time in Kyoto. The city is beautiful, full of history, culture, and charm, and it was very easy to visit Osaka from here as well, which made our trip even better. Every day brought something special, from temples and gardens to food and shopping. Kyoto felt welcoming and unforgettable, and we know for sure that we will definitely return. Highly recommend it to anyone visiting Japan.Guest review byTatianaUnited States
