It was also a first time for us in a hostel instead of a hotel that we usually take. And no complaints! Checking in was swift. The front desk was able to inform us in detail the facilities and guidelines. They accommodated our request that our beds are next to each other since we have teens with us. Hostel was well-organized. Facilities were great. A short walk to Kansui Park which we loved! The surrounding neighborhood was very serene. And Iruka is just a 7 to 10min walk from Toyama Station. They also gave us complimentary RT Tram tickets which we used to visit the Glass Museum! Most of all, they were kind enough to let us leave our luggages for the entire day and assisted us hailing taxi cabs to our next destination. Thank you very much, Kato-san! They offer complementary refreshments in the lobby which was great. The breakfast buffet was really varied and super good. The room was great, slightly older but with everything we needed; fridge, electric kettle, tea, coffee, amenities, AC, black-out curtains, humidifier/air cleaner and a really comfortable bed. We also had good views over the city. They offer luggage transfer service, but note that it's overnight, so those doing e.g. the Tateyama Alpine Route wanting to have the luggage transferred to the next location within the same day are recommended to use the Tateyama Alpine Route luggage transfer service available at the Dentetsu Toyama station. It's mainly the dreadful carpet in the hallway all these ryokan/hotels tend to have, which is often discolored thru wear and use. My room was totally renovated, clean, and in excellent condition. The onsen had large containers of body soap, shampoo, and conditioner (labeled in English), and the water pressure of the showerhead was very strong. It was a wonderful experience for me since this is my first time to snow mountain , the view at Tateyama Kogen Hotel was really stunning . When i checked in it was very foggy and the next morning i just couldn't believe my eyes the ALPS peak is just in front of my room window . It was so close to me . It's really beautiful with the sunrise . Since i went there early 1st May , i can only see the snow wall corridor and the beauty of Kurobe dam . The view is really pretty. oh if you are planning to drive to Ogizawa , don't worry there are plenty of car park but make sure you arrive early . We have confirmed with staffs that condition of all rooms are dated and do not match those on the hotel website. The highlight of Imizu was the quality of the fish—fresh, delicate, and full of flavor. Shinminato Uchikawa, with its canals and fishing boats, has a uniquely peaceful atmosphere. I booked 2 twin rooms for my stay on 27-29 Nov. 1 twin room for 2 persons. hence 2 twin rooms for 4 persons. however, when i checked in, i was told that i booked a twin room for 1 person and needed to top up for extra guest. When i told the staff that i paid for 2 twin rooms for 4 persons, I was asked to provide proof. I'm surprised that the hotel does not have record that i booked 2 twin rooms for 4 persons as the hotel sent me email to confirm that i booked 2 twin rooms for 4 persons. when i finally found the email as proof and showed the hotel staff, the staff then asked me if i booked for adults or children. I was really shocked and frustrated that after providing proof that i booked for 4 persons, then i have to provide proof that i booked for adults and not children. When i said that when booking the rooms, i clicked the twin room for 2 persons which did not indicate adults or children. The staff then asked me to wait and walked away. I waited for quite some time and the staff didn't get back to me. So i went to the front desk and asked the staff what's happening. then she said everything is ok now. Very peaceful place.
