One item to see in this area is the FREE Water Ski Show at Lake Silver in near by Winter Haven on the 3rd Saturday of the month at about 5pm put on by the Cypress Gardens Water Ski Team and it is FREE Parking and FREE SHOW. This group puts on a great show and they do not get paid but for the Love of the Sport. Bok Tower is another must see. Rent a Jet Ski even if you never have. We did not even get wet. Winter Haven Florida is an amazing city in Central Florida whether you are here for watersports, or just for a holiday. I had dinner at Buffer City on Cypress Gardens Blvd. and I was surprised by the high quality of the food and service. We traveled to Lake Wales to visit Bok Tower Gardens. We had a wonderful time—the gardens are beautiful, the bells sounded wonderful, and the tour of the house was very interesting. Haines City is a small suburban community in Florida. Our luxury vacation home was extremely beautiful in the safe gated golf community of Southern Dunes Golf & Country Club. The only draw back is the distance from Orlando attractions such as Disney. Traffic is grid-lock and takes just over an hour to reach Disney. However, a positive is that Legoland is quite close (25 mins by car) for kids to enjoy. As well, the personal pool is quite a highlight for children to daily enjoy. I was preparing for some exams, so studying was my major concern. Did not enjoy Dundee as I should have wanted. But if I get a chance I would love to return to really enjoy Dundee. I used microwave dinners most of the time. I had a rental car and moving around was not a problem. I was in Lakeland to visit my Mother who is in Hospice there on North 98. So I did not see much while I was there. In the past I have enjoyed downtown Lakeland - many good restaurants and shops and the South side of Lakeland has many restaurants, hotels, shopping and movies. I’m not sure how electrical units hanging/falling out of the walls.. the walls were literally all different colors with peeling. The place is ran down felt like I was in a trap house. Lake Wales still has green pastures and natural landscapes and was not covered in urban/suburban sprawl. We discovered Babson Park/ Ridge Audubon Nature Center with an informative nature walk about the many unique species of plants in the highlands of central Florida. We came to the area to explore this ecosystem and stumbled onto the Audubon Center next to Webber International University. The Audubon Center was closed but there were brochures to guide us through the nature walk. The use of my relative's community pool was excellent, very well kept. Restaurants and stores were readily available. Florida drivers can be terrible and rude to those with an out-of-state license plate, but navigating the city went well.
