Property has great location, walking distance to town and the Boulders beach. Private parking on site, the room has everything you could need. Hot water bottles were a nice touch as it was quite chilli at night still.
The main house has beautiful common areas where people can hang out and relax too.
The host Alex was very friendly and gave us recommendations.

One of our guests had been very sick and the owners went out of their way to assist us in finding treatment and accommodating a late check out. The accommodations were pristine and beautifully appointed and breakfast at the beach was wonderful! I couldn’t recommend this guest house more!

Our host Lisa was super friendly and personally opened up our cottage for us when we arrived. Everything was clean and tidy, from our room, bathroom, kitchen and lounge area, to the gardens and pool area. There were two scrumptious and deliciously fresh pastries beautifully presented for us when we arrived. The property has a gate leading to the mountains behind the lodge with stunning hiking trails leading over the 'Saddle' with picturesque views of Kalk Bay, the harbor, and sea views that need to be seen to be believed. Hiking down the trail into Kalk Bay, we enjoyed a scrumptious breakfast at one of the many coffee shops and restaurants along the seafront before visiting a menagerie of interesting shops and market stalls all within walking distance. When we returned, we enjoyed ice cold drinks on our private patio where we were able to relax and take in the breathtaking views overlooking the golf course and rolling mountains. Lisa went out of her way to ensure that we were comfortable and had everything we needed.

Perfectly situated in the heart of Kalk Bay, Chartfield Guesthouse is one of those hidden gems a traveler happens upon. It’s a magnificent property with stunning views of the ocean, beautiful architecture and extremely clean rooms and common areas. The sun pours in on the large dining area in the morning complementing the professional and extremely accommodating staff. The breakfast menu is unique, the food is wonderful. It’s just a short walk down to the sea front and the Main Street is alive with unique shops and plenty of options for dining.

Beautiful view, super friendly staff, great location! A few minutes from Boulder Beach which we appreciated and meant we got to see the penguins almost every day we were there! We loved our balcony with a sea view. It’s about a 20 minute walk from town but we enjoyed making the walk in every day to visit the restaurants etc.

Super friendly and welcoming guesthouse. Liesel and Mandy went out of their way to accommodate us. We felt very much at home here. Great continental breakfast, our son loved the fruit salad and juices. Extremely clean, and peaceful at night. 100% recommend and would stay here again.

So many little extras. The view was fantastic, small fridge in the room with lounge facilities with dishware and cutlery. Very easy to bring one's own food into the guesthouse. The staff were very friendly and helpful when we needed to find a medical clinic and pharmacy.

If you have a rental car, then you have the perfect spot. you can go around short distance to Penguin beach, beach close to the guest house, the Navy museum etc. It is a small town to relax for a day or two.

Muizenberg is a relaxing surf beach with a few nice coffee shops, restaurants and surf shops , within walking distance of St James and Kalk Bay. It’s close enough to travel into Cape Town central in half an hour but far enough to have a totally different vibe

What I liked most is the on suite toilet the tranquility of the place, the neatness and the comfortable bed.
What I did not like was the fact that there was very little space for our food and drinks., maybe just to invest a small freezer or get another fridge., but otherwise place is awesome.

We loved how private it was.
We loved how private it was. That we had our own space and no one knocking. The lady that cleaned our room waited until we left to clean and when we came back she was gone and did a great job. We loved how the security waited for us until we came in to lock up. We loved how professional the staff were.
They allowed us and the bridal team to take pictures there, and even allowed the girls to get ready for the wedding in the room.
The staff were very professional and we loved that.
We had our own parking available for us so we didn’t have to walk far.
Everything was great, and we would definitely go back and longer.
Our favourite places there were the beach, muizenberg putt putt, the blue train, the mall and shops weren’t too far.
We went a little far to black Marlin restaurant, got some kfc , fish places, etc.
It was easy to get around kalk bay.

The drive up from road to car park is not for timid drivers.
We were self-catering, and found the kitchenette inadequate. The communal kitchen is available if needed.

Clovelly is a lovely quiet area in between the quite lively and noisy suburbs of Kalk Bay and Fish hoek, but only a short walking distance away from them, (about 15 minutes walk) So nice if you want to have peace and quiet while you sleep. Clovelly and fish hoek beach are really close, and the nice restaruants in Kalk bay also close. There are lovely mountain paths you can walk down and hikes right out of the back garden. Lovely sunset view from the flat.

We had a fantastic time staying in Simon’s Town—such a charming coastal gem! The location is perfect for exploring the Cape Peninsula, with easy access to Boulders Beach and its famous penguins, as well as breathtaking drives along the coast. The town itself has a peaceful vibe, friendly locals, and some great little cafés and restaurants. Our accommodation was lovely—clean, comfortable, and with stunning ocean views that made every morning feel special. It’s the perfect base for nature lovers and those looking to unwind by the sea. Highly recommend a stay here if you're visiting the Cape!

Muizenberg is well connected to drive to Cape Town (20-30 minutes) and also to the Cape of Good Hope, or to travel both directions by train. We enjoyed the little cafés, restaurants and shops on the way to Fishhoek. It is was great to have a long beach in Muizenberg but at the time we went there we found lots of seaweed and there were some constructions going on that created unpleasant smells.

Fish Hoek is quite a busy town with several supermarkets to pick up groceries; Woolworths is excellent. And the town is nicely located on the coast for easy access to both east and west coast resorts - and Cape of Good hope, too. Excellent coast path enables you to walk to other beaches - my wife and I walked to Muizenberg, a very enjoyable stretch!

Kalk Bay is a perfect getaway for those who appreciate the finer things in life-wonderful restaurants where you are spoilt for choice, friendly locals, spectacular views of the ocean and surrounding hills. The working harbour with its fresh fish on display is really great. Lucky's fish and chips in the harbour complex is a must-including Bootleggers, The Portuguese restaurant-etc, etc! An eclectic mix of different cultures give this little gem a vibrant, welcoming hue-could happily live here!
