Ryokans in Tanabe

Staffs were very friendly. Bathroom and toilet were very clean. Room was quite spacious. Excellent location, very close to Kii-Tanabe station. Considering the price, it was a very good deal.

One of my favorite places I've stayed in Japan! Aki and Keiko, who run this place, were so incredibly kind and welcoming. It truly left an impression. The accommodation itself was very comfortable as well, and amazing value for the price. The bed mat was great, the bedding cozy, and the room had air conditioning so I could adjust the temperature. The bathroom was clean and after finishing the Kumano Kodo, the warm bath felt really nice. My only regret is that I didn't have time to have dinner or breakfast here. The food looked incredible! Next time.

It sits right on the harbor at Kii Tanabe. Spectacular sunsets and sunrises. Great onsen waters. Hotel chefs accommodated my need to be gluten free perfectly despite how difficult it is with Japanese food. That kindness will always be appreciated. Great staff!

Amazing food in a really nice family Ryokan. The onsen water was pure silk 🤩, the best onsen water we ever had, and the bath was really cute with a view over the river (that you access through a cool tunnel under the road, James Bond style).

The Japanese breakfast was really amazing. This Sumiya has not been renovated since the 70s, however, it doesn't matter because ithe decor added lots of charm and it is certainly a quirky place. I will definitely stay again and recommend others do too as long as you aren't super fussy because it is older style, but for the price that is what you would expect. It is clean and the owners are happy and warm and friendly.

Specious outdoor onsen, sauna and stone bath!

Thoughtful services. The staff noticed that we have an elderly traveler, he immediately got us a higher chair to ensure the elderly can sit comfortably. There are staff who can speak English which was very helpful. The food portion was more than enough and every dish was tasty. We would love to visit again!

Yuki san was sooooo helpful and made sure i had everything and was comfortable. She gave cafe and restaurant recommendations and even accompanied me to the supermarket on the first night. Location was good, walking distance to the beach, close to convenience stores and restaurants.

The room and decorations in the hotel were very cute! The room was clean and a good distance from the beach. The owner of the hotel is incredibly nice—she offered to drive us to the station when it was raining very badly. Incredible hospitality. We had an excellent stay.

Everything. My favourite hotel. This place is really cool. It is genuine. Pure magic.

Incredible service and facilities.

Spacious room with a lovely beach view. The bus stop is right in front of the hotel, and the back entrance leads directly to the beach, making it incredibly convenient. Across the street are a Lawson, a large 24-hour supermarket, and a huge Daiso, so everything you need is within easy reach. I even printed some of my travel photos as postcards at Lawson and mailed them back to Singapore from the post office just one bus stop away. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. Everything exceeded our expectations. We would happily stay here again.

Great location, attentive staff, large room, comfortable bath, and a great value! Very near the beach, bus station, downtown, and restaurants. Interesting decorations and courtyard.

A very good location if you want to spend time on Shirarahama Beach. Car park provided!
