Hotel Lago di Como, hotel in Colico

Hotel Lago di Como has a garden, terrace, a restaurant and bar in Colico. This 4-star hotel offers free WiFi. The hotel features family rooms.

Large room, quiet but still very close to the harbour and just a short walk to the train station we arrived at after doing the Bernina Express. Good breakfast too! We rented bikes at the harbour and cycled to the very north of the lake in about 2 hours. Almost all on cycle paths or back roads so very safe. Lake Como is very comfortable for swimming in August.

Hotel Villa Colico, hotel in Colico

Just 300 metres from the shores of Lake Como, Hotel Villa Colico provides free parking and free Wi-Fi access in the town of Colico. Its elegantly furnished rooms have air conditioning and a TV.

What a lovely little hotel! Situated in a quiet lane just off the main street in Colico. Plenty of secure covered parking. We were greeted by Jacopo who could not have done more to make our stay fantastic. Genuinely lovely and friendly staff. We had room 204 which was huge and had balconies both sides offering views of the mountains over the rooftops. Bathroom was great - everything spotlessly clean. Simple breakfast but all fresh and very tasty. I was a little worried as not far from the train station and thought it might have been noisy but no problems.

I loved Colico. Quiet. Lovely waterfront walking path.

I loved Colico. Quiet. Lovely waterfront walking path. We caught the train from Malpensa, then Milan Central to Colico. Worked perfectly. The ferry stops only a few times a day so best to be organised and book your tickets online. I did see people buying at the ticket office but arrive early. You can use the train also to get to other towns and sights. We don’t like rushing around so Colico suited us. We ate at Blue river a few times and we were always happy.

A quit place with few restaurants and cafes (and some of them are exceptional, eg. a cafe Ferris serves great cornetti, a local gelateria Riva Reno by the street going to the main square - offered very good ice cream, Made Colico restaurant prepares one of the best pizza but it is worth to try menu degustazione as well. Apart from food there are some places to visit like Forte Montecchio Nord which can visited only with a guide (totally worth it) or a longer trip to Fort Fuentes. Piona Abbey is worth visiting (a bit difficult to get to without a car). And of course Varenna (with it villa Monastero, but the town itself is also worth seeing).

tried the recomended restaurants but found them not to my liking then found a family run restaurant at the end of the piazza and started to enjoy the real food of the place. as it rained every single day we were there we did not do too much exploring but watching the cloud formation on the mountains surrounding the town was mesmering. brilliant if you want to just relax, but as the boats run frequent you can move well.

We had only booked to stay 3 nights in Colico in April.

We had only booked to stay 3 nights in Colico in April. Out of season the town is quiet but there are walks and ferry rides to several locations around the lake. We found places to eat. It would be very busy in high season we suspect. Ideal for those who want to see large areas of water with mountain scenery and wildlife. There was a lot of snow on the mountain tops in April.

Colico is great place to stay if You want easily get to different towns on this side of lake Como in different days. Colico - Chiavenna lets You go to very north, on a train Colico - Lecco You can reach Bellano, Varenna...from Varenna by ferry to Bellagio. You can hike the mountains near the Colico - even to get to Monte Bassetta to see the alpine cows with bells on their neck, which make unbelievable sound! That feeling! If we could read before we get there that it is possible to buy also the cheese there :D, we would not be afraid to interrupt those cows :) You can do windserfing, take a bike and go around the city. Evening walks are just great also. Love this place <3

If you love traditional rural environment, it is perfect for you! Very special place with a big garden. Kitchen is fully equipped, bed was really comfortable. Host was really helpful, if we needed an information about services in Colico. As we didn’t have car, we needed to walk up to the hill - about 45-50 minutes from the center of Colico. But this way through living village with domestic animals and friendly people was really something. Wonderful tavern was just 5 minutes to walk from the cottage.
