The view, atmosphere, attractions and locals were all impressive. However, we found out the hard way that the prices of goods and services have increased a lot... Taxi drivers charge a hefty amount for short distances (600 rupees for one kilometer) Many hoteliers are reluctant to take dinner orders in-house because of the high price of food items in the city Not sure whether this issue is a result of enforcing tourist prices, inflation, or an issue because we searched in the wrong places... Ella has the most spectacular location, really gorgeous.
Ella has the most spectacular location, really gorgeous. The train trip was wonderful. The waterfalls all around are lovely. The stores in town were fun. But we were surprised by how many tourists there were, how crowded and overdeveloped. Nice little town, you can do some nice outdoor activity such as trekking to little Adam’s pick and zip line, see the waterfall, the famous nine arch bridge, enjoy some good meals in one of the restaurants on the main road. Rice&curry at the Chill cafè is very good, the dream cafe has an international cuisine so I had a chicken wrap also really good, instead at The Barn I had a really good overnight oat breakfast. You can also take a cooking class some restaurants offer this activity three times a day 11am, 4pm and 7pm or you can also enjoy a yoga class usually you don’t need to book classes are at 8 am or 4 pm. In my opinion one night and a full day is enough to visit the main things.SamanthaItaly

There’s so many monkeys that hang out in the tree next to the verander and it was fun watching them :) You could walk into town if you really wanted to, however you’ll likely need a tuk tuk. The hotel organised the tuk tuk for us on our first day and we kept the drivers number as he was nice and cheap compared to others :) Ella town itself is so nice! Many restaurants to choose from.

The room is located in a house on the hill with many steps. however the host and her sister are very welcoming and sweet. we were the only guests and had a big terrace with table and daybed for ourselves.
