Rome is a great mix of ancient city with modern city.
Rome is a great mix of ancient city with modern city. Tours are the easiest way to see many of the major attractions without standing in endless lines. There are some exceptions though. Was able to get into the Pantheon in 10 minutes without an advance ticket purchase. Lots of construction, restoration going on. All three fountains at Piazza Navona were boarded up and no mention of this anywhere on the Internet, even if you specially search for it.
Favorite activity was a tour of the Forum, Palatine Hill, and special access at the Colosseum. Our tour guide made history almost come alive.
Favorite restaurant was La Soffita Renovatio, near the Vatican. We ate there multiple times. They were great at accommodating our food allergies, serving us delicious and safe dishes. Everyone there was friendly and service was quick.

Walking through Rome, I felt like a tiny figure moving across a board game, where someone had carelessly scattered all the existing landmarks. It was as if the city itself was a playful mix of history and architecture, each corner revealing a new piece of an endlessly fascinating puzzle.
Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined a city as beautiful as Rome. Living in Prague and having visited Paris, Barcelona, Venice, and many other renowned cities, I was initially skeptical about what Rome would offer. However, it exceeded all my expectations.

There is sooooo much to see that staying here a month wouldn't be enough. However the city was dirtier and noisier than expected. There are so many cars/traffic that you can smell the pollution coming from the exhausts :(
The food is just incredible!
As a history lover, this was a dream trip. Be ready to walk and if possible save yourself lots of steps by using some sort of transport because it can all be very tiring.
Be ready to be surrounded by lots of people all the time!
I hope to come back again because it's so beautiful.
What I disliked was that only certain parts of the city are cleaner than others and there are also many people living rough and there seems to be little to no help and cleanliness in the areas where this poor folks "live".

Rome is an exceptional city filled with rich culture and history. We consistently found something to do every day and had plenty of dining options. The city has done an amazing job at carefully preserving its historical sites, and overall tourists were respectful of them.
The only drawback we noticed was that, due to the city's popularity, many of the main landmarks and streets were quite crowded. For those seeking decent photographs, we suggest visiting these landmarks early in the morning to avoid the crowds.
This was my first trip to Italy. And straight to Rome. I really wanted a place to sleep and relax that would not spoil the impression of the trip. Therefore, I chose the hotel for a long time and very carefully. I chose Amica Roma Guest House and I was right! The hotel is conveniently located, within walking distance of the Vatican and the metro. Very cozy and comfortable room. Very tasty breakfasts! And a wonderful, sincere host Robert. Staying at this hotel only enhanced my wonderful feelings from a trip to magical Rome!
Residenza Maritti is a marvelous hotel. I have stayed here perhaps 20 times in the last 7 years or so, whilst living in Italy. It is quite simply one of the nicest places I have ever stayed at. The location is nothing short of spectacular; the staff and owners very kind and helpful; the rooms full of character and history as well as being spotlessly clean; the rooftop terrace has breathtaking views of ancient Rome. When I come to Rome, I always stay at Residenza Maritti. It is a wonderful place to enjoy the Eternal City from.
Location was great, we walked from the Rome Termini train station, the rooms were amazing and so was the staff. We had two rooms and the accommodations for everyone in our party was more than comfortable. We traveled all over Italy and this was our favorite hotel stay. There were places to eat, shopping and public transit within walking distance. Rome was the busiest city we visited but had the friendliest people. I highly recommend this place, whether you're traveling with family or on business.
Omar and the rest of the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. This is an amazing hotel! The staff was always checking on me to make sure I had everything I needed and that everything was ok with the room. Room was very spacious and clean with cute decor. About a 5 min walk to the metro and 5 min walk to the train station. I will definitely stay here the next time I visit Rome without a doubt. Book here! You won't regret it!
I stayed here twice within my 8 night trip to Italy!
Really lovely boutique hotel in a great location. Everything was immaculately clean, the room was spacious and there were nice products in the bathroom. There is a small fridge with a few mini bar items. The staff were really helpful in explaining the best places to visit in Rome; and where not to go after dark! I was also able to leave my luggage there both before and after my stay to fit in with travel plans. Highly recommended!
Everything about this hotel was absolutely wonderful. From the location, on a beautiful, tree-lined street which as central to everything and yet not noisy at night, to the rooftop terrace breakfast, to the outstanding service from Gianluca and his team. We stayed 5 nights and none of us (including my 8 year old) wanted to leave. Of all the places I've stayed in Italy and in other countries, this was the best of the best.
This was the best place we stayed in Italy. Nice and new, modern and contemporary. Felt extremely clean, comfortable beds and we were lucky enough to have a view of Piazza Venezia from our room. Great location, we walked everywhere and didn’t have to use public transport once. Plus the breakfast! Pietro really went the extra mile to make breakfast each morning that bit special. Will definitely be back when we return to Rome.
A fantastic little gem of a hotel in the historic area of Rome. Wonderful staff, super clean and quiet rooms, and very helpful with arranging transportation during our stay.
Otivm Rooftop bar was our hangout every evening to watch the sunset over Rome and listen to the bells chime. Walkable to all major sites while visiting Rome. We would give them 20 stars if we could. By far the nicest hotel during our trip to Italy.
THE BED! The bed and pillows were so comfortable. The room had an air conditioning unit you could control which I appreciated. The bathroom was spacious (for Italy). The tv had Netflix/streaming services which was such a nice touch you don’t get in a hotel. The courtyard view was also very calming to wake up to everyday. I really loved this apartment - very comfortable and well done.
I stayed here only for a night to reach the airport quickly in the morning. Termini station is only a 3-minute walk away and you can easily travel somewhere else in Italy or go to Fiumicino airport.
Besides the bathroom that had a really bad smell, the place felt quite clean.
This is place is a decent option only for a short stay. I wouldn’t recommend this for a vacation in Rome.
Despite being located in a VERY touristy part of Rome, this hotel is a peaceful and QUIET oasis from the chaos. I was shocked at how quiet my room! WiFi is excellent. Room was spacious and well appointed. Staff is wonderful. Little extras: cookies in the room each day. Breakfast was among the best I have ever had an Italy - excellent and beautiful assortment. Great shower.
Great location, really pleasant and clean rooms, but the thing that makes this such a good place to stay is the Filipino staff name Mary Claire. She is very helpful and cheerful. She make sure that our trip in Italy is fun and safe. Overall, i’m going stay again in this Hotel and i will reccommend this to my friend.
Thanks for making our visit to Vatican/Rome much better.
BEST hotel I stayed in while in Rome! Considering I stayed in more than 10 this is impressive.
Incredibly kind staff.
AC actually works even when it is 37 C or upper 90sF. Any other hotel in italy that had a central AC it didn't work.
Bed is incredibly comfortable memory foam.
Rooms are large and have access to a beautiful rooftop patio.
Excellent stay in Rome! Pay at the property when check in, pay exactly the amount stated in Booking.com. No additional city hotel, tourist tax or whatever taxes has to be paid. We paid around 4 to 8 Euro per night per person at other hotel or B&B in Italy.
Overall, a pleasant stay in Gins B&B and definitely worth it!
Fantastic location, super friendly staff and the place has a very Italy/Boutique vibe to it. It's small, but so are most hotels in Rome. We've stayed in a few different places in Rome, and this was our favorite. It's also close to Termini without being TOO close, which gets a little grimy.
That was our first stay in Italy Rome. The hotel and staff was unreal welcome, we felt like we are at home, very comfortable and No Pressure, the location was the best - right in the middle from everything, walking distance ( About 15-20 min) to any Rome sights. Highly recommended.
Excellant location, quite, safe, standard double room, Good Housekeeping,
Address on our booking confirmation was Via Varese 5, Central Station, 00185 Rome, Italy but we saw mail on the evening of check in that our hotel is in another building another 400yards
Location was Good to walk Rome Attractions. Very very Cute Hotel and Felt very Personable to us. The Staff was So Friendly and we Would recommend this Spot for any Couples looking for a True Italy Experience.
Quiet, super comfortable, friendly staff, phenomenal pool space, great pizza (okay, maybe not so surprising for Italy) but at a great price at a hotel, will definitely stay again in transit to/from Rome
