Just 500 metres from Lepanto Metro Station on line A, Hotel Relais Dei Papi is 5 minutes’ walk from St. Peter's Square and the Vatican Museums. Good location, close to San Pierdo basilica, Vatican museum and Lepanto metro station.
If you want to visit the museum or the Basilica you should book an online ticket just to skip the line I found a 21€/person (you will have to pay extra for taxes I think it's about 4€/person ticket online for a visit at the museum and Chapel Sistine. And a 19.50€ for a skip the line ticket in the Basilica alone.
Super crowded even in the off season. Go as early as you can to beat the crowds. The Sistine Chaple was so packed when we were there in the off season (middle of November) that everyone had to stand shoulder to shoulder and stare straight up. Some friends of mine went on an early tour group tour and said they had it mostly to themselves. Highly recommend doing that.
If you have beat the queue tickets for the Sistine Chapel, it’s a long walk round the back of the museum to get to the entrance from the front of the Basilica. Make sure you give yourself a good 15-20 minutes to walk there.
A must it’s so impressive, beautiful and you have Michael Angelo,s Piedad , St Peter’s Burial place and all the side chapels, the columns and the main Altar Do go to the top and walk around the dome and then to the terrace you have a beautiful view
Do not buy from touts outside. Top prices and not true to word. We spoke to people who bought ‘skip the line’ tickets, then stood in queues for hours and were not permitted to parts they had paid touts for . Unscrupulous - all around Vatican posing as guides but very hard- selling gangs. Avoid them. Buy in advance before you leave home through bookin.com. We found they had best prices.
If you can afford it pay for very early entry. It is ridiculously busy which makes it unenjoyable. It you don’t like small spaces and crowds, avoid. Read up on the paintings and history before you visit.
8.3 Very good 1,180 reviews
The staff are friendly and helpful. Overall facilities and breakfast were good and comfortable. The hotel is about 10-15 minute walk to St Peter's Basilica which was extremely convenient. The metro station is just behind the hotel which is convenient too but we did not really use it. The Vatican Museum is quite a long walk from St Peter's Basilica so give ample time. Hotel location is pretty ok to attractions - not too far nor shabby. Buses are also available.

The apartment was small, but absolutly TOP. Modern design. Everything was available. Daily cleaning. Every 2 days clean bedlinen. There was a small kitchen for breakfest. If you like you could make a meal [we didn't]. Coffeecups for the machine available. The lady for the cleaning was very kind and helpfull. Superb location near the Vatican. Easy to reach by bus [cheap: 6 euro 's]. Next time we come to Rome we will try to make a reservation at the same location

We stayed at the Rome Glam Hotel for 3 nights. It is a fabulous boutique hotel close to all the big attractions (20 minute down hill walk to the colosseum, 15 minute walk to the Trevi Fountan, 15 minute walk to the Spanish Steps, and about a 30 minute walk through the beautiful city to the Vatican City). The staff are very friendly, polite and helpful. The hotel is spotlessly clean all the time. Rooms are cleaned daily if you want with fresh towels given each day.

Excellent location. Very close to the bus stops leading from/to the airport (6 euros per person). You can not get lost - a very simple location to find. About 7 minutes walk to the Spanish Steps, 5 minutes to the Vatican. Opposite the hotel is a very good meat restaurant. Below the hotel is a restaurant with cookies not from this world ... Breakfast is very good. Quiet location. Very good WIFI. If I go back to Rome, I'll choose this hotel again.

The location is great near the vatican city and close to the other attractions. The staff Rocco and Irina are so friendly and helpful. Breakfast is excellent to kick start the day from lovely croissants, butter biscuits, pancakes to savuory cold cuts and cheese. The place is very clean and well designed with everything you need like in a 5 star hotel. Would reccomend to anyone and certainly would return if I pass by Rome again...hopefully :)!

Property owner Nico met us on the road and directed us to the underground parking. He could not have been more helpful to start off our stay! The apartment had all of the necessary conveniences and is right on a subway line for easy travel to Roma's center and the Vatican. There were great restaurants, gelato shops, and pastry shops across the street along with a produce vendor! A true working Roma neighborhood experience.

This hotel is perfect! It's in SUCH a good location (walking distance to everything, even the Vatican and the Colosseum, even though they are a bit further). There are good restaurants right around the hotel, as well as many tourist attractions. The staff is super friendly and helpful (they helped us arrange airport transfers and printed our tour tickets for us). Will definitely stay here again!

Overall Rome was a great experience. Nothing wrong with the Grand suite, but I thought it was a hotel hence the rating above, staff is lovely and always willing to help, If something is great about this venue it's definitely the staff. As for the Room,it is spacious with comfy beds. Modern style room. The location is spot on, right before the Vatican city 3-5 min walk)

Definitely recommend to anyone travelling to Rome.

Great apartment with everything you could need. Perfect position for classical Rome and only 20 minute walk, or 8 euro taxi to the Vatican.
check out the hotels for your ideal location, you get very good value for money from smaller hotels/ bed and breakfast/ guest houses etc. Use the hop on hop off buses, buy tickets to the main tourist attractions in advance, unless you like to wait in line a lot! Vatican is manic, I went in March and it was starting to get busy, I can imagine it would be very hot and uncomfortable in the height of the season.
If you take the time to go through the streets north of the Vatican you can find many small stores where the locals shop. As well as the popular brands and designer labels these streets are full of market stalls with lots of bargains and lovely small deli's and cafes that sell many wonderful local goodies. Great restaurants in this area too, well worth spending a few hours of the day finding a treasure or two.
Get a 48-hour pass on one of the "hop on, hop off" sightseeing bus services. Many of them also offer "skip the line" tickets for certain sights. These tickets are worth every cent. There are tourists waiting in long lines everywhere, which will waste a lot of your time and energy. Rome is an intense tourist destination with much to see. Plan well, do research and be prepared to spend extra on special services. You will need at least 5 days to a week to truly see most of the major landmarks. Just the Vatican Museum offers so much that you could easily spend 3 days inside and still not truly see most of it.
As it's Rome there will always be tourists everywhere but DO NOT go with any tour group guaranteeing to skip lines, the queues are never as bad as they look. We were told a "5 hour queue for Vatican and the Sistine chapel" but if we joined a tour we can go straight in...for a €50 fee. We opted out and queued and were in and out of the Vatican, Vatican museum and Sistine Chapel within 2.5 hours all for a quarter of the price (student and EU citizen discounts). The same goes for the colosseum. Go at your own pace and avoid the scammers. The hotel had basic tourist maps which were perfect and we easily found our way. But we did find there were always less people between 12-1 as they had gone to find food by then.
The Colisseum and the Vatican are probably the main attractions, but there are dozens of monuments, museums, gallaries, fountains and churches that all offer a piece of ancient or modern history. Even the roads and walls and buildings seem to tell a story about one of the most preserved ancient cities in the world.
Money buys comfort buys efficiency buys quality. The Roma & Vatican passes were what made the history come alive as they get you in fast. We walked inside the Colloseum & the Vatican within 10 minutes of arriving!!!!
