FAQs about hotels in Madrid

The Spanish Soul of Art and Entertainment

Modern Madrid is one of the greenest cities in Europe and the most popular destination in Spain. Whether you want to experience its legendary nightlife or a flamenco show, this is the place to be.

The renowned Museo del Prado holds one of the world’s finest art collections with iconic paintings by El Greco, Velázquez and Goya. For more modern touch, the Museo Reina Sofia houses Picasso’s and Dali’s most respected works.

Start your evening at Puerta del Sol, one of the city’s busiest spots. Make some room in your stomach for great tapas and sangria in La Latina district, south of the city’s most famous plaza, Plaza Mayor.

Real Madrid plays at Santiago Bernabeu and Atlético Madrid competes at Vicente Calderón Stadium, two opportunities that no sports fan will want to miss. The popular Salamanca district is a great place to look for boutique gifts and unique shops.

Thanks to great public transportation system, getting to the city centre from Madrid Barajas International Airport is very easy. Whether you’re looking for luxury hotels, budget hostels or comfy apartments, Booking.com has a perfect place for your Madrid holiday.

Madrid is the capitol of Spain, so it has many state buildings and statues. We expected to love the Museo del Prado, but found it surprisingly lacking in soul. It was very crowded and hard to navigate. Instead, we really enjoyed the Museo del Reina Sophia, the Spanish Museum of Modernism. It is more of a public educational museum covering the 20th century, especially the Spanish Civil War. Picasso's masterpiece Guernica is housed in this museum, along with experimental films, war posters, etc. I spend extended my visit by several extra hours to enjoy all the floors of this surprising collection and highly recommend it.

Madrid was wonderful, however booking.com and the apartment we rented were bad. It was a bait and switch and booking.com is allowing the owner to do this with their site and not checking on it. Pictures represented a decent apartment with 2 remodeled bathrooms the actual apartment had electricity issues, one toilet room that was falling apart and two showers in closets. The rooms were not the actual people cruces nor were the bathrooms the pictures of the apartment and booking is allowing this owner to do that to travelers.

Brilliant walkable city. it gets super hot, but there was sun shades protecting from heat. the metro ticketing system is incredibly confusing, but the metro itself is air conditioned, but very busy, and with full cell service. I totally loved the botanic gardens and theres a great Venezuelan restaurant just off sol called La Arepata, its amazing quality and value

Great to be within walking distance of so many attractions.

Great to be within walking distance of so many attractions. Opportunity to visit ancient selltements with good transport options and english speaking guides. We tried to cram to much into a single day and now wished we had devoted a separate day to each extended trip beyond the city. We certainly would consider returning to Madrid to see and experience more of the attractions we did not have time to visit.

It was the first time we visited Madrid and it lived up to our expectations. It has plenty of history and culture on show together with plenty of restaurants (fast food, cafes and specialty outlets) offering different food as reasonable prices. We felt safe in the city even at night time. There are also plenty of outlets to go shopping. Majority of the time we went to see historical places on foot but you can also see these with the easy to use public transport which is cheap. There are also nearby parks for people to just relax and walk, especially the Retrio Park and Parque Rio Madrid.

I was traveling for 15 days in Spain and France, and I stayed in 5 stars hotel suite rooms or family rooms in comparison with those luxury 5 stars hotels this apartment was Very clean and was well designed and equipped with high-quality stuff. Refrigerator and washing machines and microwave, everything was in the apartment and all stuff was clean. Air condition worked better than in 5-star well-known hotels. We are very sensitive to cleanliness and it was very clean.

This hotel provided me with exactly what you want for a stay in Madrid. It is in the city centre. Breakfast good also a good restaurant ( other restaurants nearby ) for anyone with a car it has a garage . However , it was cold weather , the room was kept warm but you do not have any way to control it. Room on the 4th floor hot water took a long time to come through . Bathroom a bit cramped for a double (2person) room. Taxi stand just outside is very convenient.

Great location in a really cool neighbourhood of Madrid,. Staff where excellent especially Cristina on reception who went above & beyond on her level of service. When we where checking in I dropped a bowl we had bought as a memento by our daughter. Cristina & Victor took the trouble to have it repaired and delivered to our room at no cost. On this trip we stayed at 16 different hotels in the USA, Canada, Portugal, Spain and Japan, this was by far the best!

The breakfast was really good, but if you can find a good deal via Booking, just take it(on site is 15 euros). The hotel has good connection with the city centre. The nearest metro station is about 10 minutes walking. Overall I recommend this place to stay and definitely we will book for a second time in Madrid.

Elba Madrid Alcala is an affordable hotel with amazing facilities. I have stayed here a few times and it exceeds expectations. The rooms are spacious and quite big in comparison to what you get in the city. It is however about 20 minutes away from the city centre but the metro is walking distance from the hotel and it takes about 30 minutes by train to get to the central area. The coffees in the cafè are delicious!
