I have dietary restrictions. The banana was nice. I am also 6foot3 and got a kick out of the incredibly low ceilings. We had a great time.

The innkeepers were beyond helpful and kind. They made wonderful recommendations on restaurants, museums and attractions. We will most definitely stay here when we return to Salem.
Go during off season when it is less crowded. Definitely visit the Peabody Essex Museum! Beautiful with excellent exhibits. Don't miss the Chinese house. "Witch" tour was very informative but not at all scary like I thought it was going to be. Didn't have time to go to any of the Witch museums as we had planned.

Such an interesting historical gem of a city.
Such an interesting historical gem of a city. Lots to explore, contemplate and take in. You absorb the witchy vibe in a cool way, but then keep exploring the museums, waterfront, parks and fantastic shops and restaurants. Like a mini-Boston, but more focused.

Salem is a great little city with so much historical significance, beautiful old homes and a fantastic museums. If you have the time, it is well worth a side trip.
Mercy Tavern is also a great spot, lovely food, cocktails and staff.
I wanted to go to Salem since I was a child, 30 years later I finally made it. You won't be disappointed.

Anybody that is in to the type of stuff in Salem would love it. Could spend a week there just looking at all the shops. Then you have the tours and self guided paths, you really just have to research what you are into.

Salem is a fun place to visit.
Salem is a fun place to visit. Lots of attractions and activities to keep you busy. Food was great and many places to choose from. We liked Reds, Dire Wolf Tavern and Carmel Patisserie.
I would highly recommend any time of year because of the variety of attractions and places to visit. The Witch Dungeon Museum and the Witch House were among my favorites to visit.
Awesome place for a girls get away. We were able to walk everywhere and see what we wanted. The boutiques and shopping were awesome.
We also did a Psychic Reading and a Witches Circle and Witch City Walking tour. We loved all of them. I would definitely come back and do them again.

The history of Salem is just so..
The history of Salem is just so.. Interesting, colorful, fasinating, rewarding and a little sad. What human beings can doing to each other is unbelievable in both evil and good ways.
We stayed at the Salem INN and loved it. Ate at Turners, Rockafellas and some other places that slip my mind. These two were great.
Used the trolly and walked alot.
Location is perfect for walking to all the witch related tourist offerings in Salem as well as a good range of bars and restaurants. Staff are super friendly and helpful and the rooms are beautiful. It's an old hotel with loads of charm, rumoured to be haunted but we had no visitations! An added bonus was complimentary hot drinks in the lobby (which is fabulous) all day, freshly prepared by a staff member. Breakfast at Nathaniel's was delicious and good value. Would have no hesitation in staying there again.
Great location for the centre of salem. Very friendly and welcoming staff, who are more than happy to share their knowledge of the local area. The hotel has a grand lobby and the rooms have everything you need and are comfortable and clean. The hotel is aged In places which is understandable due to the history of the building. We didn't have breakfast but it is an option.
Such an incredibly beautiful house to stay in. So many special details, trinkets and artworks to peruse throughout the home. Rooms were spacious and the beds were comfortable. Some really lovely breakfast options to choose from in the mornings. Location was fantastic. Would love to stay again if I ever make it back to Salem.
The Salem Hotel was very clean and the hotel staff were all very kind and very helpful to what we needed. It was very convenient as it was right in the middle of all the shops and walking distance to everything. The beds and pillows are amazing! I definitely plan on going back and staying with them again in the future!
There’s no breakfast available, however there were restaurants close by. The staff is available by text every day. They reach out several times a day. We prefer to decline housekeeping in hotels due to the electronics we travel with. This was not an issue with the staff. We would definitely stay here again.
Salem is a great place to stay. The Salem in puts you at the very beginning of Essex Street, the main street running through the centre of the city. The staff were great and couldn't have been more helpful 👍 Great tips like use Uber and Salem skipper travel service. Take a ferry to Boston
The staff was wonderful. Very friendly and helpful. One thing I noticed was that we didn't hear noise from other rooms ( such as walking above, flushing toilets). Definitely stay here again. Walk to everything. Parking was great as the garage has access right to the hotel lobby.
In essence, we liked everything: Dog friendly. Very clean and comfortable. Comfortable beds, kind, accommodating, attentive staff. Delicious restaurant in the hotel. Pretty rooms. This hotel experience is why I don’t stay in Airbnb’s.
Fantastic location in the heart of Salem. The property is full of history and we recommend a walking tour to find out more. The staff were amazing and the complementary breakfast was a lovely treat and even the double room was huge.
The location was very good. The staff was very accommodating. Knowing it was an anniversary trip, the hotel gave us a bottle of champagne, chocolates and Salem Inn flutes to use and take with us.
The hotel was extremely clean. The staff was very friendly & helpful. It’s in a great location - all attractions are walkable. When we return to Salem we will absolutely stay there again.
Hotel, location, restaurant all excellent.
Staff so helpful especially Natasha who helped us get off on a day shopping.
Food amazing in hotel restaurant, beds comfortable....no complaints
Great location in the heart of Salem (across the street from the Common and the Hawthorne Hotel event space).
The owners were friendly.
The historic space is beautifully cared for.
The room was very clean, and the staff was extremely friendly. The location was within walking distance for many of the Salem attractions. It was nice to have a hotel close to the water.
I loved how central The Merchant is located from everything in Salem.
I absolutely loved the aesthetic of the hotel and the breakfast scones! This place was cozy and fun.
Room was very spacious! The staff were so lovely and helpful throughout the entire stay. The location is completely central and so perfect for all of Salem’s attractions
