- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.4Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 96 reviewsMy partner and I stayed at the River Lodge during our Christmas/ summer holiday and it was EXCEPTIONAL. Cleanest room we have ever stayed in. The hosts are fantastic, great vibes all round! The included breakfast was delicious and we had all the amenities we needed. Well worth the price and experience away from a chain hotel. The setting is so green, relaxing and warm. We slept so well as it was so quiet. Highly recommend you stay here if you are planning to hike the Tongariro Alpine Crossing - Dani can organise a direct shuttle to/from the track for you.Guest review byClariceAustralia
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 31 reviewsWe were there for ski trip. I loved Sandy's service by giving us all the info about the mountain and how to be prepared with passes and mapping it out for us to make sure we get the best experience which I appreciated soo much! The place itself was soo clean and felt like home. Beautiful lounge area and clean kitchen and nice open outdoor area to enjoy food with the best view in the area! Highly recommend and I'll definitely be staying here on my next trip :)Guest review byAnuNew Zealand
- From $87.89 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.0Very Good - What previous guests thought, 1,529 reviewsWe really loved the family rooms - they were warm despite the cold temperatures. The hot water systems (i.e. the showers) were excellent. Finding the hotel and accessing the car park was also very easy. The restaurant (the spiral) also served very high quality food. The cost of the rooms was outstanding value for money.Guest review byMattAustralia
- From $65.91 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.8Good - What previous guests thought, 631 reviewsThe room was great as our two bedrm unit was broken so we were given a better and greater deal. Room was very clean and the staff, Michelle, worked so hard to help us get in our room and even helped with laundry. She went above snd beyond and deserves a big fat raise!Guest review bydennis birdUnited States

Has great facilities for children and the shared kitchen works great for prepping lunches for up the mountain. A glass of wine on the deck looking at the mountain was a highlight for me!Guest review byMelNew Zealand

It was a great experience.
It was a great experience. Mountain was warmer up the to & colder at the bottom. It's wise to go up the gondola ride see the mountain close up front. There is snow field up the top for seating & restaurant. National park is just mesmerising very iconic. Worth visiting. I would go again next time for the crossing.Guest review byShamshad BegumNew Zealand - 10.0

Ohakune is a town still recovering from COVID and some not so good ski seasons, but it is beautiful and well worth the visit. Apart from skiing and snowboarding, the mountain is a beautiful place to hike, mountain bike, or just visit for the view. Ohakune is small and easy to get around, with great cafes and restaurants. The ski shops are fantastic with really helpful staff (TCB is amazing).Guest review byKateNew Zealand - 4.0
The management is chaotic. I lost my ski poles.
The management is chaotic. I lost my ski poles. It took me an hour to find them among three girls. I found that all their equipment was someone else's. I was shocked. There were too many novices. My friend's child was hit three times in one day. It was really dangerous.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

National Park walks were stunning and the area truly deserves its World Heritage status. You could choose the difficulty and timing of your hikes. Easy to find your way round. Use some sandfly repellent and soother on hikes as you might be bitten. The bites are not pleasant and take a few days to stop itching. We had great accomodation which allowed us to self-cater- so no restaurant reviews.Guest review byAnonymousAustralia - 8.0

Roomy, relaxing, peaceful, clean - had most of what we needed. A few basic things missing that would have been appreciated - salt, soap, dishcloth, lock on bathroom door, working oven/grill. But over-all we enjoyed the stay and it met our needs for a 2 night stayGuest review bySaraNew Zealand - 8.0

This location feels really remote,it's very quiet with interesting landscape and somewhat eerie. The rooms are fairly basic but do have everything you require. It's great value for money however and an excellent option for those travelling on a limited budget.Guest review byclaireNew Zealand - 8.0

National Park Village is a great jumping-off spot for skiing Whakapapa. It was easy to jump on a shuttle up to the ski field, grab some last minute gear from the local ski hire and we had a lovely apre-ski meal at a local restaurant (there were a couple of options to choose from). The petrol station/convenience store has everything you need for a short stay.Guest review byJoNew Zealand - 8.0

We loved our visit. Fantastic views and quality time.
We loved our visit. Fantastic views and quality time. Easy to get around in a standard car. Weather conditions were clear and bright, mild cold temperatures so a very minimal amount of ice on the road. We recommend the sky waka gondola. The skotel alpine resort is a good place to stay.Guest review byMikaylaNew Zealand - 10.0

It's a decent small town in the middle of no where in rural nature. Close to the National Park town and Tongariro/ Ruapehu mountains. No real commodities in terms of gas stations and shops however but the National Park Town is only 5 minutes away.Guest review bySaahirNew Zealand
