Bulle has been a stopping off point for several years now - it's a wonderful small town with a very nice centre. There's a choice of several good hotels and there are plenty of restaurants. The local cheese fondue is a must!Guest review byAndreasFrance - 6.0

Tiny Gruyères is better suited for a daytime visit than an overnight stay. Food options are pricey and few between, with limited menus and no activities after dark. Better options for your stay would probably be in nearby Bulles.Guest review bygermeskernashUnited States - 10.0
We hiked to the peak.
We hiked to the peak. It pushed the limits of our 11 year old. Was just about perfect for our 14 and 16 year olds. We took plenty of breaks and round trip was like 6 or 7 hours. Lots of cows with bells on. Excellent views from the top. We hiked up counter clockwise along the loop. This put the rocky less pretty views on the first 1/2 of the hike. It was nice to have the more scenic views on the way down while we were tired. We should have started right in the morning as there was full sun exposure for almost the whole hike. Also, if it had rained or something there wouldn't have been much good cover.Guest review byMichaelGermany - 10.0
Montbovon is a small village nestled between two villages.
Montbovon is a small village nestled between two villages. There isn't much to see - it's a convenient stopping off point for you to explore the Fribourg area without paying too much in accommodation fees. In terms of food choices, you'd be better off either eating at the hotel, or going to a nearby town to buy food before heading back to your hotel. That being said, the area is GORGEOUS in winter, and if you time your visit correctly, you can see the glorious mountains around you covered in snow.Guest review byDarylSingapore - 4.0

If you like tiny Swiss villages with absolutely nothing to do but hike and little to no food options, then visit Jaun. I wouldn't go back. It was one of the more disappointing destinations. As there is no shortage of great hiking all over the country, I would definitely recommend someplace else. I would stay in Gruyères instead.Guest review byRyanSwitzerland - 10.0

Bulle is a lively small Swiss city close to the mountains of Fribourg. The city has a charming old center with a castle and there are several very nice bars and restaurants for drinks and dining. There are some fantastic Asian restaurants (Thai as well as Japanese) that offer delicious food and drinks. And, there are many opportunities for nearby hiking (e.g. around Lac de la Gruyère, or around the "Gastlosen" mountains starting from the Jaun village). Finally, there is the Cailler chocolate factory (in nearby Broc, 10 min by train), that is definitively worth a visit!Guest review byMarcelSwitzerland - 10.0

Beautiful hilltop medieval town with so-so castle, great views, ambiance, a great cheese manufacturing tour, some lovely hotels, a Tibetan museum, and a museum of the works of the disturbed anti-human artist HR Giger. If you are into easy-moderate hiking, the Callier chocolate factory, or the nearby towns (Broc or Moreson) Mt., it will be worth more than one day. I took a lovely hike to Broc on a trail found in the app, AllTrails. This was very worthwhile.Guest review byHenryUnited States - 8.0

Nice little town to pop in if you are in the area anyway, not really a true destination. You can see everything there is to see in one evening. Best fancy dinner we had at "The tonnellier" restaurant-definitely worth 5 stars! Best burger we had at "Fry Burger Gourmet" fast food, near the train station. Be aware though, that a 4 persons meal in Switzerland could easily cost as much as an airfare!Guest review byJohnmaryGreece - 10.0

Although very small, Gruyères is one of the most beautiful places in the world! The fondue is not to be missed at any restaurant, and both the castle and the Giger museum and bar are a must for any visiter.Guest review byIanUnited States
