Beautiful. Very ‘the white lotus’. Hotel only open 1 year so in very good condition. Clean. Modern - fully equipped tv and sockets (Netflix, USB/C etc). Great swim up bar. Breakfast had yoghurts fruit cereal pastries eggs bacon sausage then a variety of non breakfast items like Asian dishes. Something for everyone. Bar is not expensive but didn’t try food other than breakfast.

The location was great. It was a short walk from an area with lots of great food and shopping options. It was also far enough from the main road to not be affected by noise. The staff were super lovely.

Perfect stay! The owner Jerome makes sure that every guest is taken care off and has the best experience. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and had everything we needed. The food at the restaurant was delicious and reasonably priced. I really appreciated the option for the french breakfast with real butter! And the view can't be beat - whether that's from the restaurant, the room or the pool. A real gem and I will recommend this place to all those who come to the island :)

Quiet, clean, cute little hotel in a central location between Phuket and Krabi. Perfect for visiting Khao Sok and Ao Phang Nga national parks. The hotel is new and very stylish with sticky rice local desserts for breakfast. The staff and the owner are incredibly friendly and accommodating. The owner booked a tour to the Ao Phang Nga national park for us after we arrived. We chose full day long tail boat trip to multiple locations in the bay and it was perfect! We highly recommend the Origin Hotel!

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Title: A Perfect Family Getaway at Avani+ Khao Lak We had an unforgettable family holiday at Avani+ Khao Lak Resort – one of the best experiences we’ve had in Thailand! The rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable, with lovely balconies overlooking the pool or the lush gardens. Our kids had an amazing time – from the pools to the kid-friendly areas, the entire resort has a warm, welcoming atmosphere that’s perfect for families. The breakfast buffet was rich and varied, with plenty of delicious options for both kids and adults. And the beach? Quiet, clean, private, and just steps away – ideal for both relaxation and family fun. What truly made this stay so special was the staff. Everyone was kind, attentive, and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Even the kids’ club team was fantastic – patient, caring, and full of energy. Our kids felt right at home. A heartfelt thank you to Jump, Tee, Bass, Mook, Pooh, Lip, Night, Film, Toh, Choon, and Lik – each of you made our stay extra memorable. We wholeheartedly recommend this resort to any family looking for a relaxing, fun, and high-quality vacation. ❤️

If you want late nights, loud music and a party life, don’t go to Kho Lak. If you want rest and relaxation, great food and no crowds this is the place. Pick your time of year and the town seems deserted.

This is a very rural, very quiet island.

This is a very rural, very quiet island. There are no big developments, no nightlife, and not a lot to do except relax. We really only left our resort to go on day trips via boat (island hopping, snorkeling, etc). It's beautiful, but rough around the edges and about as different from The White Lotus as you can get. Also, it's 99% Muslim, so no pork and no alcohol (except in restaurants) on the island.

We went in May with a group of friends and found it a low key and relaxing island. Beautiful beaches and a few places to explore. I think scooter hire is a must-have to be able to get around...that was a highlight for us just cruising around the island! The hike to the 'big tree' was way harder than expected but the gorgeous secluded beach at the end made it worth it. In low season it seems like at least half the restaurants and shops are closed so you can't rely on google to tell you where to go, sometimes you just have to drive around and see what's open.

Lots of things to photograph here.

Lots of things to photograph here. Street photography, landscape, seascapes, drones, portraits, temples, wildlife. The Elephant Cave was awesome, and we even arranged to photograph it with our tripods. Lots of monkeys were running around. We took our scooters about 20 minutes away to a dock and launched drones to capture beautiful river deltas. About an hour away was a nice sunset spot called Samet Nangshe.

If you want to visit a clean beach for swimming and water activities, this is not a good option. there was plastic and other rubbish every where, both on shore and in the water. The resorts locally are lovely though and still worth staying at. We stayed at Santhiya and it was wonderful. The best thing about this area is it is not overcrowded and the locals are lovely

Koh Panyee is worth to visit.

Koh Panyee is worth to visit. There are a lot of tours from Phuket, or from Krabi, which are not so cheap, and they stops in this island only a half hour. If you want to stay a longer time, you can buy a private boat from Tha Dan pier, or there is a local boat between about 9am-4pm. This is the cheapest one, it cost only 50-150 baht for one way. There is a hotel in the island. After 6pm no tourists in Koh Panyee, only a few people, who staying this hotel. The restaurants use touristic prices, no food under 200-250 baht.

Despite there being a lot of other tourists about, the area felt quiet and relaxed. Everything we needed, from restaurants, bars, beaches and cannabis dispensaries, were mere minutes away on our rented scooter with sidecar. Some of the bars did not sell spirits because it’s a more Muslim part of the country.

If you want peace and quiet and seclusion, this is the place! Be aware that you are there to relax and will be paying higher prices for items such as food an drink. It makes sense as they have to ship everything in. That being said, everything is made with care and delicious! They do have two happy hours from 5-6 and 9-10 on the beach. Lots of honeymooners! I went with my two adult sons, it was a stop in between Krabi and Phuket and it was perfect to get away from the crazy and chill. Take their boat transfer too!
