If you are over the hussle and bustle of Patong then Khao...
If you are over the hussle and bustle of Patong then Khao Lak is just the place to go! Most of the resorts are very family orientated. If you haven't done it already James bond and Pipi Islands day trips are worth it. The Similian Islands day trip is also very good but the national park is only open from mid October to mid May. You should shop around for the price as some of the smaller tour shops are a lot cheaper than the resorts travel desks.

resort and location are perfect, i changed original booking confirming everything with resort via email, only to be told upon arrival the price quoted via email, was doubled, rather than the female reception staff, attempt to address and resolve what appeared to be a misunderstanding on their behalf, she was ignorant and rude, demanding i pay the inflated price, it took management to intervene, understand where the misunderstanding occurred, on their side, as they misinterpreted the emails. management accepted my side to which the female reception took offence too, with her smirk of disgust towards me. apart from that the resort is beautiful and all other interactions with other staff were positive, polite, and with a smile. dont let one bad experience i had prevent you from staying at this beautiful resort, these things happen at times. i would stay here again, due to the room sizes, the food, the beach at your door etc, the pool is excellent

It is a small town. We rented a car and drove to Phuket (2.5hrs away) and the next day drove to Krabi (2.5 hrs away). Roads are windy so I recommend only skillful or experienced drivers to be behind the wheel. 7-11 is a blessing in KL. Their cheesy toast and chicken burger are really value for money. There is nothing much to see in KL per say except for the beach and the tsunami museum. Water activities are in abundance though.SathiavathyMalaysia - Scored 1010

Khao Lak is the area for people who are after chill vibe on beautiful beaches! During the season there are very unique trips to beautiful areas like the Similian Islands, Surin, khao Sok is very close so it's perfectly located. You can find very luxurious hotels, and budget ones, the beaches are amazing and as i said- the feeling of havong a lot of space in general is still here... vs. areas like Phuket...ShiraIsrael - Scored 8.08.0
