If you haven't explored Asturias give it a go, but you will have problems if you don't speak Spanish. I am fluent but because there aren't many tourists everyone gives you an up-and-down look and anticipates you being a guiri. Then, when you surprise them by speaking Spanish, they act like the French do and answer you by saying "OK". Well this is true for much of Spain, but the beauty of the Asturian countryside and architecture, the temperate climate, the great local train system (cercanias) and more or less cheap prices (except in July/August) make it worthwhile.Guest review byRICHARDUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Nice town with good infrastructure. Safe and quiet. With lots of restaurants and a fairly large pedestrian centre. The city is built for pedestrians, with ramps and prams everywhere. The facades of historic buildings have been restored or are being restored. It can be seen that the municipality keeps an eye on the condition of the city. There are plenty of bars and restaurants at reasonable prices. A wide range of clothing shops covering the whole spectrum of prices. There is a good day’s sight seeing to be done, particularly in the old town and many old churches and public buildings (I wish I had done a bit of homework in advance). Plenty to see and do. Don’t miss Carhedral and market. Shopping is good all the usual plus lots of small businesses. Train station very close to centre with good connections all around, we did a day to Gijon to save driving lots of tight city streets. On arrival we were directed to the underground car park (cost 15 Euros) which is very conveniently situated and provides easy access to the hotel. I liked the fact that there was a bath as well as a shower and bidet in the bathroom.
